Chapter 1238

Meanwhile, back with Matt & Gabby:
Matt's POV: As me and Gabby finished having our snack, I smiled while looking at Matteo since we just put him in the activity center for him to play for a while. I saw him smiling as he got some stimulation while Gabby was in the shower. Meanwhile, I was doing the dishes and Christie was getting ready to go. "You know, you don't have to leave yet. You should stay for lunch Christie." Christie then sighed. "I have a hair appointment at the other end of town. Who knows how long they are going to stay open before they are ordered to close again." I nodded and understood.

"I am just glad that my haircut is really easy to do." Christie then smiled at me. "Yeah, because you just your hair really short. Doesn't it get old though? Gabby must want to run her fingers through your hair sometimes." I nodded and smiled. "Probably. But, she hasn't said anything. Anyways...not really the best type of hair to have as a firefighter." Christie then sighed. "Matt, you aren't one anymore remember?" I nodded and agreed. "Still changing my routines. The hair is still hard to do since it was just my first one in a while."

Christie agreed and smiled. "When is he getting his first one?" I smiled when she asked. "We are going to do it ourselves. Gabby wants to do that. However, he's not going to enjoy his next doctor's appointment. I think he has to get some tests done or something." Christie then sighed. "Based on his age, he's due for shots again in June." I nodded and agreed. "God, that is not going to be fun. He's so squirmy now so that's going to be a lot harder when we have to do it. I am just glad that we have friends who can do it here."

Christie laughed. "God, I am so jealous that you have doctor friends. That would've been so much easier. Having someone come to your home to give your baby shots." I agreed and smiled. "Listen, we are going to have together sometime soon okay? Maybe we can do something as family this summer once we are all vaccinated? I want to spend some real quality time with Violet before she gets too old for her uncle Matt." Christie then laughed. "I think your kids just bought you a few more years of time with Violet."

I then thought about it and smiled. "That's probably true. Everybody is a sucker for babies." Christie then nodded as she grabbed her jacket. Putting it on, I then walked over to her. I then gave her a hug and smiled. "Stay safe okay sis? And let me know if you need anything." Christie smiled and agreed. "All I need is for you to stop worrying about me. Matt, I have this under control. Concentrate on your own life. You have a gorgeous wife, an amazing son and soon, you are going to have a beautiful baby girl."

I then sighed when she said that. "Please don't jynx it. I would actually like for it to happen. If you say something, I am scared that it won't happen." Christie nodded and agreed. "You want me to tell Violet or are you going to call her and tell her?" I smiled when she asked. "You go ahead and tell her. I don't know when to call her. She has a boyfriend now after all." Christie then looked at me and sighed. "You heard about that?" I nodded. "I want to meet him sometime soon. Give him a stern talking to."

Christie laughed and agreed. "Sure thing. Now listen, I need to get going." That's when I heard Gabby come out in a bathrobe. "Then come say goodbye to me quick." Christie then nodded and walked over, hugging her. "Congrats again on the surrogacy. I promise, if you need anybody to watch him around the time of the birth...you guys give me a call okay?" Gabby nodded and agreed. "We are going to definitely consider that. Now, I need to get dressed before a video call I have." I then turned to look at Gabby, confused.

"Stella wants to talk about the wedding. 5 months to go until they get married." I nodded and agreed before looking at Christie. "Well that means we need to get him ready. We also need to get him to start walking." Christie agreed. "Listen, you guys have a good afternoon and we will talk later. Bye Gabby." Gabby then nodded and smiled as Christie left. Closing the door behind her, I then went to lock it. "Still can't believe that it's actually happening. Them? Married?"

Gabby laughed and nodded. "You talk to Severide about what you are going to wear? Us girls are wearing Navy blue dresses so that we are matching you guys a little." I then thought about it and nodded. "Instead of your dress uniform?" I nodded and smiled. "And what are you wearing for our vow renewal?" Gabby then smiled. "That's a secret. However, I expect you to wear your dress uniform." I nodded and agreed. "You aren't wearing yours I hope. I want a dress."

Gabby smiled when I said that. "Actually, I've been meaning to talk to you about our vow renewal. Let me just get dressed and we can talk about it?" I then nodded and smiled before going to sit on the couch so that I could relax. Meanwhile, Gabby made her way back to the bedroom to get dressed. Once she did that, I grabbed my phone and smiled when I went to look at the picture of the gift I am getting for Gabby. It's a new wedding band with her birthstone.

That's when I heard Matteo. He just smiled at me. I then went to talk to him. "Let me guess, you want to see the picture too don't you buddy." I then went to show him. "This is the new ring I am getting for your mommy. She's getting it at our vow renewal." Unfortunately, Gabby heard what I just said. "What? You are getting me a new ring for the vow renewal?"
