Jay's POV: After making our way to the weights, I smiled when Matt started to work out in front of the mirror. I then looked at what he was wearing again and decided that now was probably the best time to bring it up. "Okay, so I didn't want to bring this up in front of the girls but dude, what the hell are you wearing?" Matt then turned to look at me and smiled. "Gabby liked it and I thought...if she thinks I look hot in it, then that means I should definitely wear it. Probably the same way for you when it comes to wearing muscle tanks?"
I nodded and agreed. "So, how's the new year so far?" Matt sighed and looked at him. "Well, it's starting off pretty depressing considering we just lost our niece." I then sighed. "Yeah, sorry about that." Matt then nodded. "Doesn't help that it is bring up bad memories from a few years ago. It's actually why we came. We needed the distraction." Matt then sat down on a bench and went to start doing bicep curls. "Remember, we had a miscarriage a few years ago remember?" I then nodded and sighed.
"I am still praying that it doesn't happen to us. I am scared what it would do to Erin. Especially now that she's lost both friends in New York and her mom in the past year. Oh and possibly me if it gets too bad in a few days." Matt sighed when I said that. "I am scared for it too. Just wish I could get more information. Antonio refuses to tell me what's going to happen." I sighed and nodded. "Trust me dude, you don't want to know what the intelligence says."
Matt then turned to look at me. "It's that bad?" I sighed and nodded. "Trust me when I say this...the intelligence that Antonio is getting about what's going to happen in Washington in a few days is nothing compared to the intelligence I am getting. Let's just leave it at that." Matt then bit his lip and nodded. "How are you dealing with it? It bringing back any PTSD?" I sighed and nodded. "I am having flashbacks to 9/11. Sure, I was 17 when it happened but..."
I then started to feel a bit of panic and went to sit down. Putting my hand on my head, I started to have flashbacks of those days and pictured the capitol. That's when I felt Matt's hand and looked at her. "Jay, you o..." I then started to yell. "Stay away right now!" That got Erin's attention and she started to walk over to us. "Matt, I got it." Matt then backed up. "We were just talking about January 6th rumors and then 9/11..."
Erin nodded and looked at me. "Hey, Jay...I'm right here." I then started to snap out of it and nodded before moving to hug Erin. "Sorry I got so scared." Erin then nodded as she wrapped her arms around me. "You okay to stay or do you want to head home?" I then bit my lip and sighed before holding her in my arms more. "I think that might be the better idea. Sorry about this guys." Gabby then walked up to Matt and nodded while wrapping her arm around him.
"Jay, I get it. I know what it's like to deal with PTSD. I still get it sometimes." I then looked at her confused. "For what?" Matt then moved to kiss her forehead. "You got this Gabby." Gabby then sighed. "You remember my former partner Shay?" I nodded and just looked at her. "Well when she died....we switched places. So, instead of her dying....it easily could've been me." I was shocked when she said that and then nodded. "Gabby, I'm so sorry."
Gabby then nodded and went to kiss Matt softly. "Listen, this was fun. But I think we all know that we probably all want to get going. But first, let's get you something to eat. We can head to Molly's together and you can order whatever you want. On us." I nodded and agreed as I looked at Jay." I then nodded and looked at Erin. "Can we eat there or do we have to take it home?" Gabby sighed and bit her lip. "We'll see what's happening at the restaurant okay?"
I nodded and agreed. "We are going to get changed okay?" I then went to grab Erin's hand and intertwined our fingers. "Come with me?" Erin then nodded as she rubbed my arm. Grabbing my water bottle, we then walked away together so that we could go get changed in the locker room.
Matt's POV: Once Jay left, I turned to look at Gabby and just wrapped my arms around her. "Now, that's scary. Even scarier then when you are having your flashbacks." Gabby nodded as she wrapped her arms around me too. I then went to push a strand of her hair behind her ear and sighed. "Gabby, you really still blame yourself for Shay's death?" Gabby sighed and nodded. "Matt, we switched places. That could've been me dying instead of her!"
I nodded while grabbing her neck before kissing her softly. "Hey, I'm right here. Just relax and don't talk so loud. We need to call Hermann anyways and tell him that we are going to dine in. Maybe we can even stay for a bit and do some deliveries. I mean, supper rush is starting in maybe 2 hours?" Gabby bit her lip and nodded, liking the idea. "Anyways, we need to replace Diego considering he is out for the shift." I smiled and agreed. "How about we call him?"
Gabby then nodded and went to call Hermann. It took a few minutes but he eventually answered. "Molly's." I smiled and spoke up to him. "Hey Hermann, it's Matt and Gabby. You guys need a delivery driver tonight?" Hermann then sighed. "I am glad you asked. We are short after your nephew left. You guys don't mind?" I laughed. "Of course not, we own the place. However...we are going to bring Matteo with us." Hermann liked the sound of that.
"Listen, we have all been tested. Do you mind if we can hold him while you're here? Cindy is here too and she has been dying to meet him more. Remember, she used to take care of Louie all the time." Gabby smiled and nodded. "Of course she can hold him. She of all people has probably been safer than us. Listen, let us just finish up here and then we need to stop at home. Then, we'll come right over and stay for a while. We might bring a key."
I was confused when she said that. "Why a key?" Gabby then smiled. "If we are tired first, then we can take him home. But...if Cindy's tired first, she can take him home and hopefully watch him at home until we are done?" Cindy then spoke up since she was obviously listening in. "Of course Gabby, that sounds great. I love kids." Gabby smiled when she said that. "Then it's settled. We'll get stuff ready and we'll be right there. Talk soon."
Gabby then hung up and looked up at me. "You're okay with this right?" I nodded and agreed before going to kiss her softly. "Of course I am. Just remember that in 2 days we have Matteo's shots. I just recently got the alert." Gabby smiled and nodded as she kissed me again. "Go get changed. I'll wait here for Jay and Erin." I then nodded and walked away to go get changed.
