Chapter 1232

Meanwhile with Matt, Gabby & Christie:
Matt's POV: As I walked into the living room with some hot chocolates for me, Gabby and my sister, I smiled at my sister as she sat on the ground with Matteo. "You positive that you are comfortable sitting on the ground like that with him sis? I mean, you are wearing a dress." Christie then looked up at me. "Matt, I'm fine. Now, did you make me a hot chocolate?" I nodded and went to give Gabby her hot chocolate. I then went to do the same with Christie's hot chocolate.

"Here you go ladies. Now, I am going to go grab mine in the kitchen." Gabby then agreed and smiled. "So, how are things here in the Casey Household?" Gabby then smiled when she asked. "Much better. Just need to get working on the nursery. I plan on helping this time considering I am not pregnant or recovering. Last time, Matt did most of the work." I then walked back over to Gabby when she said that. "Yes, because you were recovering from giving birth and a stressful pregnancy." Wrapping my arm around her back, I smiled as I sat with her.

Gabby then nodded and agreed as she took a drink of her hot chocolate. That's when Christie smiled at us. "Just curious Matt, you tell mom yet?" I then shook my head. "I haven't been able to reach her since she called me on my birthday. I don't know if it's because she's too worried about uncle Jake to talk to us or if it's because she's having problems with COVID. I am not too worried considering we both know she's really safe." Christie sighed but nodded, agreeing. "By the way, just letting you know. Jim had a son this time around."

I nodded and sighed. "Christie, I already know. I have Violet as a friend on Facebook. I saw the pictures of her with her baby brother. However, I want you to get her vaccinated soon. We need a new babysitter other than adults. What if we want to go out with adults?" Christie nodded and smiled. "Like a double date with us, me and Severide?" Gabby then chocked on her hot chocolate when Christie said that. Rubbing her back, I looked at her. "You okay?" Gabby sighed. "Sorry, just a little shocking that you haven't heard. He's engaged Christie."

Christie then turned to look at me. "No, Kelly Severide engaged?" I nodded and smiled. "Second marriage actually. This time it's one that I think will stick. His last marriage was a Vegas wedding while he was grieving Gabby's best friend/his unofficial lesbian girlfriend." Christie then looked at me. "Ok, how was she his girlfriend when she was lesbian? And wait is that..." Gabby then nodded. "Yeah. It's why we are considering the name Elizabeth Maria Casey for the baby." Christie smiled when Gabby said that. "Oh, a little Lizzy Casey." I then shook my head. "You call my daughter Lizzy and you're out of here."

Gabby then turned to look at me. "What if I want to call her Lizzy?" I then turned to look at Gabby and nodded. "Then you can call her that. Not sure if I like the sound of it though but, I will get used to the sound of it if you want to call her that." Gabby smiled and nodded before kissing my cheek. "Don't worry, that's not going to be her nickname. Her nickname is going to be Little Shay." I then smiled when she said that, nodding at the idea of that nickname.

Christie however was confused. "Little Shay?" Gabby then sighed. "Elizabeth was the name of my best friend and best paramedic partner, Elizabeth Shay. She helped pick out my engagement ring. She died in an explosion." Gabby then teared up a bit. "She died saving my life." I then moved to wipe her eyes and kissed her forehead softly before grabbing her hand. "It's okay Gabby, I'm here to get you through this." Gabby then sighed and nodded.

"There was a falling pipe. She pushed me out of the way and a pipe fell on her instead of me, fatally crushing her." Christie then got up and went to hug Gabby. "Hey, come here. It's okay. She would have been honored to be your daughter's name or even her godmother." I then thought about it and smiled at Gabby. "We still have to do the baptisms. We haven't gotten to that. Want to wait until she's born?" Gabby then nodded and smiled.

"Also, I want to ask this. We have already decided that Matteo's godparents are going to be Antonio and Sylvie. My brother and sister-in-law-to-be. However, maybe...if you're up for it. Would you want to be our surrogate baby's godmother?" Christie then smiled. "Of course I would. I mean, only if Matt agrees." I then smiled at them both before nodding. "Of course I agree. However, I want to get Severide as the godfather." Gabby sighed.

"I was going to ask Antonio again. The whole point of godparents Matt is for them to raise the kids in case something happens to us. I want to have biological relatives." I then nodded and understood before kissing Gabby's forehead. Christie then looked at us both. "Just curious, what type of surrogacy are you guys doing? Is the baby going to be related to the surrogate?"
