Jay's POV: After spending another minute (or 10) in bed, I smiled when I was now standing at the door while Erin wore a tight dress that hugged her baby bump. "Why must you wear dresses like that when we both know that it drives me crazy?" Erin then looked at me as she went to grab her boots before sitting down and putting them on. She then zipped them up before looking up at me. "That's exactly why I wear these tight dresses when we go out. That way, I am guaranteed to have your arm around me all night." I smiled when she said that and nodded while helping her with her jacket. That's when she stepped close to me.
Putting my hangs on her stomach, I smiled as she grabbed my jacket before kissing me softly. "And admit it, you like it just as much when I wear this nice, sexy, tight dress for you because it allows you to stare at the other guys and remind them that the smokin' hot girl on your arm is your wife." I laughed and nodded. "Not that anybody we are hanging out with right now would ever try to steal you from me. Literally, all of our friends are either engaged, married or expecting a child with their girlfriend or boyfriend." Erin then thought about it and nodded. "True."
I smiled when she said that. "Plus, I am not threatened by any other guy. Erin, you are my wife. And when we first got back together...you risked your freedom to come back to me. Erin, if that isn't a reason enough to know you are never going to leave me....then I don't know what is." Erin smiled when I said that before cuddling up to me and moving to kiss me softly. I then wrapped my arms around her and smiled as we held each other close. "Nothing and I mean nothing is going to tear us apart again babe. We are in this life together with our beautiful daughter."
That's when I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket. "My phone is vibrating in my back pocket. Can you check what it is?" Erin nodded and then went to grab it. She then entered my passcode but saw I changed it. "You changed it?" I nodded and smiled. "DODVET or 303838" Erin then nodded and went to put it in. She then saw it was a text from Ruzek and just ignored it. "We can deal with him later. Right now, we are on a double date with our friends." I then looked at her and went to grab her neck. "Who was it?" Erin then sighed. "Ruzek." I nodded and smiled.
"He of all people is definitely not ruining this amazing date I am going to have with my beautiful wife." I then went to kiss Erin and smiled as we held each other close. "I driving to the restaurant?" Erin nodded. "Doesn't the gentleman always drive the lady to the date?" I agreed and laughed before letting her go. I then grabbed her hand and intertwined our fingers while opening the door for her. "Ladies first." Erin then agreed and nodded while walking outside.
That's when we saw it was snowing. I smiled when it was snowing because it was nice. "Now, where was this on Christmas Day." Erin then agreed and smiled as we made our way out to the truck. Opening her door for her, I then went to help her up. "You got it?" Erin then nodded and went to buckle up. I then ran around the truck to get in when I slipped on some black ice. Thank god I caught myself though because then, I would've worried Erin. Getting in she looked at me.
"You okay? And don't lie because I saw you slip and almost fall." I then sighed. "Black ice." Erin then nodded. "Get out and go put some salt on the driveway okay? Imagine if it was me." Jay then went to put the keys in the truck and started it. "Might as well start the heater. And we definitely don't want this little one to be anywhere other than here for a while." Jay then put his hand on my stomach and smiled at me. "I am so excited to meet her."
Erin's POV: When Jay said that, I laughed and nodded. "I can tell. Now, go get the salt on the ice and then we can get going." Jay then got out and smiled as he walked over to the salt we had on the side of the house. Grabbing a cup, he then went to put it on the driveway in front and next to the truck before also putting it on the pathway all the way to the front door in case it gets cold tonight. Then the ice will really freeze. With the snow also falling, that will just make it even worse later.
Once he finished putting the salt down, Jay set the bag down where it was and then came back to the truck. Getting back in, I looked at him and smiled. "Thanks for doing that. I know it's a pain." Jay then grabbed my hand and smiled. "It's no problem. Anything to make sure that you guys stay safe." Jay then went to kiss me softly before going to start pulling out of the driveway. Turning around to see where he was going, I watched as Jay drove away.
Finally out of the driveway, Jay put the four wheel drive on as we drove down the street. "I have to apologize for something." Jay was confused when I said that. "What do you need to apologize for Erin? You did nothing wrong." I then sighed when he said that. "It's about me never letting you drive. You are a great driver Jay and I should've let you drive a long time ago." Jay smiled and nodded. "Funny enough, that was literally the first thing Hailey said when we starting working together."
I then sighed, a little jealous considering she was quite beautiful. But, Jay wasn't having it. "Erin, you know the deal. You don't get to be jealous when you were in New York. That and you don't get to be jealous because you are my wife. We both know that I am 100% committed to you because you are the love of my life. So please babe, just relax with the jealousy okay? At least when it comes to romantic stuff. You can be jealous about how much great action you missed. Oh, the perp chases and busts I did while you were gone."
I laughed when he said that and nodded. "I doubt they compare to my international drug busts with the Mexican Cartel or Italian Mafia. Oh, and the human trafficking perps who were coming up through Mexico and into the US through the US-Mexico border." Jay agreed and nodded when I said that. "You know, I never asked you this but...what was it like working under Trump? I know for me, the past 4 years have been terrifying." I then turned to look at him. "Why have they been so terrifying?" Jay sighed and then grabbed my hand.
"I have been worried that he would do something stupid like start a war and that I would have to go somewhere even more dangerous than Afghanistan like North Korea. Then, we would have never had this second chance because I either would have been killed or captured. It's a big risk that I always put myself in every time I went overseas. Sure, US soldiers are always at risk to being detained or held in captivity for ransom. But I was much more at risk for that compared to the other people there in Afghanistan."
I got nervous when he said that. "Am I allowed to ask why?" Jay nodded. "Yes. It was because I was an intelligence officer. I had access to a security laptop and classified information while working overseas. If they got a hold of my laptop, they could've been able to hack all of the US Government's computers from anywhere in the world." I then gulped at the thought. "Well, I am happy that you never got captured. Mostly because I love being your wife and we are having a kid." Jay smiled when I said that and nodded. "Me too."
We then grabbed each other's hands and just held onto each other while he drove to Molly's.
