Erin's POV: As I come downstairs shortly after taking a shower, I smile when I see Jay in the kitchen while his new 18-month old service dog Lucky lays down on the couch in the living room. I then groan as I walk in to see him. "God, she really needs to learn the rules Jay." Jay then turned to look at me. "What are you..." Jay then stared at Lucky and yelled. "Lucky off." Lucky then looked at me before getting off the couch and walking over to Jay. She then sat down next to him and got some attention. "You seriously are rewarding her with attention?"Jay then turned to look at me. "Why, would you rather I give you some attention instead?" I then chuckled and smiled as I walked up to him. I then went to kiss him softly while feeling his hand on my stomach. "Only 2 more months." I nodded and smiled when he said that before moving to wrap my arms around him. "I just hope that Lucky is okay with having a baby around the house. Oh god, what does that mean for panic attacks? She's trained to bark to get you out of them."
Jay then sighed when I mentioned that. "Erin, I am sorry but...I am going to have to ask you to deal with it. If I had to choose between letting her sleep and me not flailing my arm and hitting her...then I will take the waking her up any day. Plus, gives me more cuddle time with my girls." I smiled when he said that. "I am just glad that we are on Maternity and Paternity leave at the end of the month." Jay smiled and nodded. "4 weeks until we are off for 5 months. Maybe a little babymoon to the cabin for a while." I smiled when he said that.
"You really trust her at the cabin?" I then went to point at Lucky. Jay sighed. "Erin, she's been trained and is continuously being trained." I agreed and nodded when I heard my phone ring. I knew it was Hank and smiled. "Do I need to tell him that she's coming today?" Jay then nodded. "You can but, she can come in regardless. However, I might want to use the desk with the door from now on so that she isn't alerted as much. Needs to relax."
I agreed and nodded, smiling at him. That's when I heard someone at the door. Turning around I saw it was Hank. "Hey, Hank's here. He probably wants to meet Lucky before she comes into the office today. That okay?" Jay then nodded and smiled. "Of course. Lucky, stay!" Lucky then laid back down while I went to get the door. Opening it, I smiled at Hank. "Hank!" Hank then went to come in and smiled. "Am I allowed to get close?" I nodded and smiled. "We got the vaccine a month ago. We should be good." Hank then smiled and hugged me.
"Oh god, it feels amazing to do that." That's when Hank saw Lucky. "Who's that?" Jay then walked over to me and smiled while Lucky followed him. Bending down, he looked at Lucky. "This is my service dog. Lucky. She's the reason why we are heading into the office today. I need to get her trained at the office." Hank nodded. "So, that's why you guys are going to be sharing the office next to mine." I nodded and smiled at him. "Yeah, she is going to be following Jay all around okay? Even when we leave the district."
Hank agreed. "Okay, do you need me to talk to the team?" Jay then shook his head. "No, I am going to talk to them when I get there. I need to establish the ground rules. I will tell you right now though. Hank, she is a service dog not a pet. She is to help me with my PTSD. That means only me and Erin are aloud to touch her. Also, I am trying to train her to alert me when she goes into labor." Hank laughed when he said that. "Wait, you're kidding right?" Jay shook his head.
"Nope. But honestly, she has been amazing help. I actually had a panic attack last night. She woke me up right in time. Almost hit Erin again." Hank then bit his lip and looked at Erin. "You okay Erin?" Erin then nodded and grabbed my hand. "I'm fine Hank. And since you are here, you want breakfast?" That's when I remembered that I had some ready for Erin. "Erin, I already have some ready for you. You need to come eat. Meanwhile, I need to feed Lucky." Hank nodded.
"Want me to feed her?" I smiled when he asked. "Jay, let him do something. He has been sitting on the sidelines for my entire pregnancy so far." Jay then nodded. "Okay, but after this we need to take her for a quick morning walk before we leave then. Anyways, I think Matt and Gabby have the day off. They might be out in the park this morning." Hank then smiled. "Actually, I just saw them walking down the street. How close do you guys live?"
I smiled when he asked. "We live within 2 blocks of each other. Actually, all of our friends do. We can walk to Antonio's place from here too. By the way, we should invite Antonio to come eat breakfast now that he's back." Jay smiled and agreed. "Oh, that reminds me. Hank...we have an ultrasound Monday at 10 so, we are going to work from home until then. Then we'll come in." Hank agreed. "Remember my condition, these girls here stay at the office."
Jay then sighed and shook his head. "Hank, Lucky comes with me. She's my service dog and is always with me. Plus, she can work as a police dog. She's been trained per my request." Hank smiled and nodded. "Okay then. Smart." I smiled when he said that. "Of course. Now, are we inviting Antonio to come eat?" I nodded and smiled. "Give him a call." Jay then smiled as he went to grab his phone to give Antonio a call.
