Jay's POV: After making my way to the nursery, I smiled since I had just finished painting it recently. I decided to do it considering I didn't know whether we would have a girl again. However, I really didn't like the brightness of the pink since it was quite blinding. Maybe I should've asked Matt to do this instead. However, he must be busy. Between his family and work, he would've never had time to go through this. Plus, he's also planning a wedding. God, and I thought my life was busy with this interim head of intelligence role I have. Oh, and my new role as Deputy Head of Intelligence for Undercover Operations.
I am just glad that Hank decided to institute the roles before we took over. That will probably be much easier on him because we would be able to relieve him of a lot of stress. Right now, he was recovering from the gunshot. At least now, he is starting to be better and is expect to return as Head of Intelligence in a few weeks. But, enough about him and more about me concentrating on our daughter. I then decided to open the box with my box cutter when I heard Erin walk into the room. "Okay, is it just me or is this pink brighter than the one we chose?"
I turned to look at her and smiled. "I just thought the same thing. Maybe we can put some shelves and stuff on the wall to make it a little less bright and just...I don't know what else we can do but, I am probably going to ask Matt. You were definitely right that I should've waited until he had a chance to do it. It probably wouldn't have ended up this way and we wouldn't have this problem." Erin smiled and nodded as she went to sit in the rocking chair. "You could've also asked Antonio for advice. I mean, he's going to paint his 3rd nursery now."
I turned to look at her and nodded. "That is very true. God, can you believe the he of all people is having twins? I mean...he is one of the senior detectives at the CPD and that normally means that you are..." Erin then stopped me. "Careful what you say next Halstead! Or else you will be sleeping downstairs on that pull out couch." I then bit my lip and nodded. "Of course. Sorry." Erin then smirked as she looked at me. "Now, let me see the clothes we have." I then nodded and got up to bring a box closer to her.
We then both started to look into it and smiled. I then saw the little onesie we specifically ordered. "Yes, they had some." Erin then looked at it. "Future Cop" I then went to grab the other one that it came with. "Junior Officer Halstead." Erin smiled when she saw that. "Remind me how we got it customized?" I turned to look at her. "I think these clothes are from the website where we designed some clothes. I don't see the Amazon logo." Erin then looked in and nodded. "Yep, because my sweater came too." She then went to grab it and got up.
Once she was up, she went to put the sweater on and looked at me. I read the sweater and smiled. "Baby Halstead on Board." I then get up and moved to step close to her. Putting my hand on her stomach, I then went to kiss her softly. "And boy am I glad that's the case." Erin then smiled as I went to kiss me again when her phone rang. She went to pick it up and listened. "Hello?" She then heard. "Shit Gabby, I forgot...my re-certification course is today." She then realized it was a butt dial and hung up.
"Butt dial." I laughed and nodded. "C'mon, let's get this sorted. Then we can call them back and see if everything is okay." Erin nodded and agreed as we went to put the clothes away.
