Chapter 1168

20 minutes later at Firehouse 87
Matt's POV: As I park my car at Firehouse 87, I smile considering I am going to be surprising Jake where he works. Probably not going to be expecting me. But, he did order from Molly's after all. He must know that I am working there on my off time. That's when I went to grab the food and the debit machine. I then go and put my mask on before walking up the driveway to the house. I saw Jake and Melanie in there with their friends. Walking in, I smile as I prepare to walk in when the captain stops me. "Deliveries must stay at the door. Only CFD personnel past this point."

I then sigh and go to grab my CFD ID. "Captain Casey, Firehouse 51's Paramedic-in-Chief." The captain then nodded and apologized. "Sorry Captain. And sorry about your head injury. Heard that you had to leave Truck." I nodded and agreed. "Yes, I am now working with my wife on Ambo 61. Works great and gives me more time with her on shift. Now, I am here for a Mr. and Mrs. Cordova. Or should I say my wife's ex-boyfriend." Cordova then turned to look at me and smiled. "Well, this is awkward." I then went to give him the food. "Hey, you chose Molly's"

He then looked at me and remembered. "Right, you guys own that place. Awkward." That's when Melanie walked over to me and I noticed she was pregnant. "Congrats Cordova. You are going to love being a dad." He agreed and smiled as he wrapped his arm around Melanie. "How are you and Gabby doing with this whole lockdown?" I laughed and smiled. "Good. What about you and Melanie? You make the nursery yet?" Jake then sighed. "Not yet, don't get me in trouble with her while I'm on shift." I agreed and nodded. 

"Well, we wouldn't want that now would we?" I then went to pass him the machine. "Wait, Debit, Credit or Cash?" Melanie then went to grab her wallet. "Here, let me Jakey." I then laughed a bit and nodded. "Jakey..." He turned to look at me. "Shut up. She's hormonal." I nodded and understood. "All I can say...from a dad to a 4 month old. Enjoy it while it lasts. Once the kids' born...you don't get close for a while." He laughed and understood. "Still need to get my furlough request in." I agreed and nodded. "Not my problem. Now, I need to go work."

He then agreed and nodded before giving me the machine back. I then went to walk out of the firehouse. "Have a good shift boys and stay safe." I then noticed there was a female firefighter I recognized. "Hey, Alison right?" Alison Wesley then turned to look at me. "Yes Captain Casey?" She then got up and smiled. "I thought I recognized you from Cruz's Online Zumba Class." She then got up and smiled. "Yes, that's where I know you from. He's great eh?" I nodded and smiled.

"It's a great workout. Honestly boys, if you ever get a chance...do it. It's fun." All the guys then laughed when I got a phone call. I then went to pick up and it was Hermann. "Hey Hermann, what's up?" He then spoke up. "Diego is about to go out. Can you get back here so we can have a delivery driver on hand?" I agreed. "Sure thing. Be back soon." I then hung up and smiled. "Well, that's my cue to leave. Stay safe everybody and happy belated new year." Jake then smiled. "Same to you and Gabby." I then waived at everybody before leaving to go to Molly's.
