Chapter 1245

Gabby's POV: As we made our way into the firehouse, I smiled when I saw Gianna Mackey cleaning up the ambulance. "Just giving it a good restocking?" Gianna then turned around to look at me and smiled. "Hey, what are you guys doing here?" I then smiled as I went to hug her. "We need to talk to Chief for a minute." Gianna smiled and nodded. "So, is this the famous Matteo that I've heard about but never met?" I then sighed and nodded. "Sorry Gianna. That's my fault. I am still not used to including you as part of our firehouse family."

Gianna nodded and smiled. "How old is he now?" I then smiled when she asked. "6 months." Matt then smiled at me. "Hey Gabby, I am going to get Chief okay? See if he can speak with us in his office?" I nodded while turning to look at him. "Sure, can you also check your office to see if you have anything in there that we can throw in the wash? I am doing one when we get home. Oh, check your locker too." Matt nodded and agreed, walking away to his locker and office. "So, listen...I want to tell you something. Uhm, I didn't want to say this to anybody but..it's important."

Gianna then got confused. "Everything okay?" I smiled when she asked. "We're expecting a second child." Gianna was shocked. "What? I thought you guys decided it was too risky!" I shook my head. "Surrogate." She then understood and let out a sigh of relief. "Okay. That makes more sense. Hey, might mean we get to work together someday. You know, when you and Matt eventually have to split up shifts?" I looked at her when she said that and got nervous. "I am not sure if we are doing that." Gianna then nodded. "Right, your choice. I am sure daycares can help." I then nodded. "Listen, I am going to talk to Chief."

Gianna then sighed, knowing she screwed up. Meanwhile, I went into the firehouse and just kept thinking about what she said out there. Are we going to have to split shifts? I mean, we can't both be on shift when we have 2 kids. Should I stop working and be a full-time mom? Would that even be possible? Maybe I can work at OFI again? God, what have you done Gianna? That's when I got to Matt's office and looked at him. "Hey listen, I need to mention something."

Matt then turned to look at me. "You okay?" I then sighed. "You sure us working on the same shift is still a good idea? I mean for when the baby's born." Matt then stepped close to me and wrapped his arm around me. "Gabby, where's this coming from?" I sighed and looked at him. "Gianna mentioned something after us someday maybe being able to work together since we can't always send both kids to the babysitter." Matt then shook his head and kissed my forehead.

"Gabby, we are going to send them to a babysitter while we are working. I am not going to have us basically acting as single parents and only seeing each other for 24 hours at a time every 72 hours. That is not healthy." I shook my head and sighed. Matt then moved to kiss my forehead and smiled. "Listen, everything will work out. Anyways, Matteo is going to be almost 2 by the time you are done your maternity leave. That means he'll be in pre-school by then." I then took a few deep breaths and nodded.

"Gabby, did you take your meds this morning?" I then thought about it and sighed. "Shit, I knew I forgot something." Matt then sighed and wrapped his arms around me. "You have to remember tomorrow for me okay babe? We are working." I then nodded before going to kiss him softly. "Listen, we need to go talk to Boden." Matt nodded and smiled when Boden walked up to us. "What can I help you guys with? Thought you guys weren't working until tomorrow?" I smiled when he asked. "Can we speak in your office? We are not ready to share it with Everybody yet." 

Boden nodded and agreed. "Of course. Come into my office." We then both agreed as we walked with him towards his office so that we could tell him about our surrogate.
