Jay's POV:
After making our way out of the district, I smiled when I saw Lucky have to go to the washroom. I am just glad she didn't go inside. I decided to let her go. I was just glad I had some bags with me. "Remind me to always have some on me." Erin nodded and agreed when I picked it up. I then went to put it in the garbage before staring at me. "You know, I wanted to say that I can really see a difference Jay. You are so much more relaxed now that we have her."I smiled when Erin said that and nodded. "I am glad you are seeing that. It's how I feel." Erin then nodded as we made out way to the truck. Walking over with Lucky, I went to open the door when I saw her looking in the well of my wheel. She then went to grab something. It was hamburger that was left on the ground. Tugging her away, I looked down at her. "No, bad girl." She then bowed her head and relax. I then got her in the car while Erin laughed. "It's not funny." Erin then smiled at me. "Jay, she's still a dog."
I nodded and understood as I helped her into the truck before attaching her harness. "You know, if it's too high when I can always try and switch it out?" Erin just shook her head. "Not happening. However, you are going to have to put a net in the middle. I don't want Lucky and Olivia to be able to get too close." I nodded and looked at her. "Erin, she's harnessed into the truck. She can't move." Erin then looked at Lucky and nodded as I pulled out of the parking spot before thinking about it. "Can we leave her in here while we're in the hospital?"
I then thought about it and nodded. "Yeah but, you are staying in here. Sorry but, not taking the risk." That's when I got onto the road and started to drive towards Chicago Med. "That is something I am not changing my mind on Erin. You are pregnant." Erin nodded as she went to grab my hand and intertwined our fingers. "Of course. That is the one part of the job I will always agree with. My health always has to come first." I smiled while moving my hand to her stomach.
That's when we got past a light and I smiled because we just made it. "Jay!" I laughed when I did that because I knew that Erin hated it when I gunned it right when the light was getting close to yellow. "Relax Erin, it's not like we are going to get in trouble for it." Erin sighed and nodded. "True. We have a CPD badge." I nodded and smiled when we drove past Firehouse 51. I then saw Boden come out and waved at him. He did the same and smiled. "I think everybody is glad that the weather is so much better now. They are all washing the cars outside."
Erin nodded and agreed. "That actually sounds hot. Maybe you can get wet by accident." I then laughed when she said that and nodded. "Relax okay? We are on duty." Erin then nodded and agreed as we made our way through downtown and towards the hospital. That's when we saw a little problem at the corner. I decided to slow down and checked when I saw someone attacking an Asian American woman. "Get out of the country and take the virus back to China, bitch!"
Erin then nodded as I turned my lights on and pulled over. The guy then turned to look at me and was about to run. I looked at Erin and smiled. "Time to let this one work." Erin nodded and agreed. Getting out, I went to park the car before opening Lucky's door. "Lucky, chase and attack!" She then lept out of the car and went to get to work. Meanwhile, I went to look at the woman. "You okay ma'am? Can I get your name?" I then saw she was bloody and bruised.
Erin decided to call it in to Ambo 61. "Officer 51317 to Ambo 61. Just down the block. Hate crime attack. Asian woman." Ambo 61 then replied. "En route officer 51317." That's when I looked at the firehouse and waited while looking at the woman. "What's you name ma'am?" The woman then looked at me. "Lisa Xi Ping." I nodded and looked at her. "We are going to get you to the hospital okay?" She agreed and nodded. "Now can you give me a description?" She nodded.
Erin's POV:
"White, mustache. Middle age, maybe late 20s. Bald head." I then went to tell him. "Jay, he's white, has a mustache. Middle age-late 20s. Bald head." That's when I saw Lucky keep running after him as well as a firefighter seeing a guy there. He then went to tackle the suspect. "Jay, a firefighter just got him." He then radio'd black. "Got it. I see it." That's when I saw Jay get him and smiled when I saw Ambo 61 arrive. "Hey, what's up?"Gianna Mackey then walked up and smiled. "Asian woman, subject of hate crime. We just got the attacker." She nodded and agreed. I then went to radio for Platt. "Platt, can we get a uniform to Firehouse 51? Guy attacked woman." Platt then radio'd back. "Got it Erin. I'm sending Cooper and Roman." I agreed. "Please contact FBI, this may be federal jurisdiction. COVID Hate Crime." Platt agreed. "Sure thing. Talk later Erin." I then looked at the woman.
Gianna then started to administer first aid and smiled. "Did he hurt you by any chance? I can check you and your baby?" I then shook my head. "I'm fine." That's when I saw Jay walk up. "Yeah, we are just going to head to Med. We have to deal with another case. Another detective will meet you guys there okay?" Gianna then nodded and looked up at him. "Stay safe okay guys?" I smiled and agreed as I got up. I then grabbed Jay's hand when I saw Lucky was there.
"Good girl." I then smiled as we got her back in the truck. "Good idea bringing her eh?" Jay nodded and smiled as we got back into the truck to make our way to Med.
