Mermaid AU... that Idk what to call

This probably sucks. I wasn't really sure what to do... Anygay, onto the story~

-Roman's POV-

My ship was out on the sea, on a voyage. It was dark, and everyone was below deck, except me. I was watching the water, enjoying the quiet. Suddenly, I saw a movement in the water. I turned my attention to the spot, hoping to see something. I kept looking but saw nothing. Just as I was about to give up, I saw something... a tail?

I then saw what looked like a... big fish? just under the water. Looking closer I realized part of it looked... human? 'What? I must be seeing things.' I rubbed my eyes and looked back at it. There was movement.

A head popped up out of the water. 'Oh my god! Is that an actual mermaid!' It didn't seem to notice me, so I started still as I watched it.

-Virgil's POV-

I've been watching and following this big ship all day, making sure it's not causing any trouble. Can't let any sea friends get caught or hurt.

It's now late and all the sailors are out of sight. I get closer to the water's surface. My head popped out of the water. The air was weird, it's probably just because I'm used to the water.

I looked up and saw someone looking at me. I squeaked and went back under the water. I'm not supposed to let people see me!

I swam farther under the water. I watched the human through the water. I saw them looking around, probably looking for me. I swam farther down.

It was the next day now. I was following the ship again, staying low so no one would see me. I helped a few fish out of nets and traps. I recognized the human from last night. Everyone listens to him and does what he says. It's like he's royalty or something. For mermaids, royalty is in charge.

'Maybe he is a king? He looks a little young though, so maybe... a prince? Is that how humans work, though? I don't know. He seems nice, though. Well, as far as I can tell from here.'

-Roman's POV-

I've been thinking about the mermaid I saw all day. I wonder if I'll see it again.

"Hey, captain Roman," one of the crewmates called, walking up to me.

"Yes?" I turned to him.

"We pulled the nets up, and they're empty. We haven't caught."

"It's fine. Catching fish isn't our reason for being out here."

"But it's a bounce."

"If we don't catch anything we'll be fine."

"If you say so." With that, he walked off.

I sigh and go back to what I was doing or what I was supposed to be doing.

Me: My nose started bleeding for literally no reason. 

Remus: Where you think of something spicy *shoulder and eyebrow wiggle* 

Me: No, Remus. I wasn't thinking of something 'spicy'. I was just sitting there eating chips watching a video about area 51 and my nose started bleeding. 

Virgil: Maybe the video made your nose bleed. 

Me: That's ridic- *life is a lie face* 

Virgil: Maybe they don't want you knowing about area 51. 

Mw: And maybe they put some kind of signal in the video, to my body, making my nose bleed. 

Virgil: Exactly. 

Remus: Makes sense. 

Roman: Why not. 

Logan: That is ridiculous. 

Me: *bratty voice* Utterly ridiculous. 

Logan: Are you making me, or is that a reference to something? 

Me: It's a reference. 

Roman: From that ladybug show, right? 

Me: Yup! 

Me: Wait where's Patton and Janus? 

Virgil: Making cookies. 

Me: *raises eyebrow* 

Virgil: Patton talked Janus into making cookies with him. 

Roman: Logan was making cookies with them earlier, but 'had work to do'. 

Logan: I did have work to do. I have to make sure Thomas stays on schedule. 

Me: Welp. I got to go. Time for breakfast for dinner.
