Everything hurt, though he knew he had no right to be sad. Eddy wasn't his, had never been. Of course Eddy wanted to spend time with Alex, his boyfriend. They didn't have all that much time left until Alex left. Brett still figured Eddy would go with him despite having said he wouldn't. Anything to not have to stay here with him, right?
Brett didn't really feel like functioning, but the company didn't stop doing business just because he felt sad, so he had been at the office today. He had been doing his job, giving instructions, answering emails and supervising a few trades. The moment he got home, though, he had curled up on the bed, barely having taken his shoes and blazer off before doing so. Everything felt so pointless. He had let himself get used to Eddy's presence and comfort when he should have known it wouldn't last. He should have known he would pick Alex over him as soon as they were back together.
That was fine, though. It just had to be. Brett didn't need to get out of bed anyway.Eddy made it home to the mansion safely, used to slipping through the shadows and being unseen. In situations like this, it was good. After all the organization would rather have him dead than alive. Carefully he went inside and walked down the long corridors, sometimes he felt like a ghost drifting down these halls. Brett wasn't completely wrong, Eddy had thought about possibly traveling with Alex. He decided though that living a life on the run wasn't a life to have at all. He wanted Alex to have a chance at something normal. Eddy knew he couldn't provide the normalcy as he once had in Alex's life. He may have to let go.
He found himself in front of Brett's bedroom door, he had drifted there without thought. Lightly he knocked, "Can I come in?"
"Sure," Brett answered quietly, pulling his duvet up to his chin. He hadn't moved in quite a while, and Eddy coming back didn't really make him want to move any more. Surely he'd just tell him about how nice a day he had with Alex, how much he had missed Alex, how much he loved Alex. Brett was definitely doing a big part in helping Alex, but he despised the guy. He only did it for Eddy.
Eddy pushed the door open, only closing it once he was inside, "Thanks for setting this all up."
Eddy had very conflicting feelings about Brett. Then again Eddy was a very conflicting character. Often he felt quite fucked up in the head and was never certain of how he truly felt. He came over to the bed sitting on the edge of it, "I really appreciate it, even if I am not good at showing it."
Brett sighed a bit to himself, deciding to not be another reason for Eddy to worry. He pushed himself up into a half sitting position, putting on the same mask he had been wearing all day at work. If he could hold it for all those hours, what would a few more minutes be?
"Don't worry about it, I just want you to be happy," he said with a shrug. He still didn't look up at Eddy, knowing the man had the power to break his mask with no problems at all.Eddy glanced at Brett seeing he was mostly still in work clothes, "You're going to get a cold sleeping in that. Let me get you something better to sleep in."
He knew Brett's room pretty well now because he had spent a good amount of time in there, "I would be happy to do so."
He added softly, he wished he could give Brett happiness but he wasn't capable of doing so.
"You don't have to do that," Brett tried to protest, but it didn't really sound sincere. He would love to be babied by Eddy, even though he knew he shouldn't. "I wasn't sleeping yet, just laying down for... uh... some relaxing."
"It's been a tiring day, yeah?" Eddy got off the bed, Brett's answer wasn't a no. Thus, he would go grab some new clothes for him, "Do you still own sweat pants and t-shirts?"
