Brett watched as Ray left the room. He had measured Eddy's blood pressure again, just to make sure he wasn't getting worse. He wasn't. It was better. Not much, but enough to calm the medical student enough to allow himself to go take a break. Which was good. Ray deserved a break after everything he had done today.
"So, food, yeah?" he said softly, turning to Eddy once the door had been carefully shut. "Which one would you like?""I don't really care, just take what you want first and I'll have what is left. I don't know if it will sit easy on my stomach," Eddy spoke honestly, he wasn't sure if he would actually be able to eat. It never hurt to try though, plus it smelled good so he would like to try.
"Well, I think I'd like some of the broccoli today, if that's good with you," Brett hummed softly. He wasn't exactly sure what Ray had asked for at the restaurant, but it looked and smelled amazing, so he didn't really care. "If you don't mind the carrots?"
"I like carrots so I see no problem here. If you were trying to offer me mushrooms, it would have been a different story," Eddy teased softly, he figured Brett had been stressed or worried most of the day. Thus, he should try to lighten the mood. Even if that was through his teasing nature.
"Still haven't gotten over your dislike of mushrooms I see?" Brett asked with a soft chuckle, grabbing himself a pair of chopsticks. It was true that he had been both stressed and worried. He still was, but he was doing his best to hide it from Eddy. Eddy didn't need to see him like that. "No worries, I already asked Ray to get something without mushrooms."
"They tried to kill me, they deserve to be hated or destroyed. Maybe both," Eddy snorted with a smile, "Thank you for remembering that I despise them. I don't like them."
Eddy followed Brett's example by grabbing himself a pair of chopsticks."I know you don't," Brett hummed softly, snapping his chopsticks apart and rolling them together for a bit before opening the box that was now his. The one with noodles, sauce and some vegetables with broccoli seeming to be the main one. "They're not my favorite either, so I don't mind."
"If I did get any, I would feed them to you," Eddy said jokingly and playfully, "I know you'd save me from them even though you don't enjoy them that much either."
He chuckled as he grabbed his own take out box.Brett chuckled softly, shaking his head a bit.
"You could toss them over to me, at least," he said, not really thinking it was a good idea to let Eddy feed him or be intimate like that. It could give him hope. Hope which would never lead to anything, as strong hands on his neck had told him quite clearly. "I'll save you from them.""I'll just hide them in your noodles," Eddy teased more, he didn't think much about anything right now, "That way they'll integrate nicely with the rest of the food and you won't suffer too much."
"Sounds like a plan," Brett hummed, slurping his first bite of noodles. He was honestly starving at this point.
Eddy carefully pulled his chopsticks apart, going quiet. He glanced at Brett, deciding to simply watch him for a moment. As concerning as it seemed, Eddy found that he liked watching Brett. He wasn't sure why but he felt that it was dangerous.
Brett ate quietly for a bit until he realized Eddy was just sitting there watching him. He gave him a questioning look as he slurped up the noodles hanging out of his mouth.
"What?" he asked with a small smile.Eddy didn't look away, even when he was caught, "Nothing, I'm just thinking."
He shrugged a little bit with a small smile, then slowly turned his gaze to the take out box, "Is the food good?"Small talk was probably a good thing.
"Oh, I see," Brett nodded, grabbing another bite of his food. "Yeah, it's good. Not the best I've had, but really nice still."
"You've probably had a lot of good food, you're rich enough to have your own master chefs," Eddy hummed as he dipped his chopsticks into the food, he was ready to at least try it. He wasn't all that picky.
"I'll admit I've had quite a bit of expensive food. Whether it's good isn't usually dependent on the price, though. I think some of the best food I've had has been various street food," Brett hummed softly, eating more of his noodles. He also grabbed a bite of broccoli. "Expensive food is just... well, usually ingredients that are difficult to get combined with chefs that have egos larger than the ocean whatever fish they're preparing came from."
"The night market in Taiwan is the best, they have amazing food. Especially the fried chicken," Eddy spoke softly but excitedly. He loved Taiwan and couldn't help but remember it fondly, despite some of the less savory missions he did there.
"Oh man, that fried chicken is amazing," Brett hummed softly with a smile widening at the memories that flowed through his brain. "If you'd like, I'll take you sometime. I'd love to have fried chicken with you."
"I would love that, I miss those trips," Eddy spoke softly, he shoved some food in his mouth, "It had an amazing night life there. The people were great too.""You're right, I really like it there," Brett hummed softly. "I think we should go sometime. It could be fun."
"It would be fun," Eddy chuckled warmly, he already knew it would be great. Honestly, he doubted they would get to do much of anything. Their lives were different from the way they were. It never hurt to imagine though. It would be a great trip they'd never have probably.
