Eddy watched as Brett peacefully rested by his side, they had finished eating a while back. They had simply sat and talked until the early hours of the morning. Eddy had slept most of the day, leading him to be awake as Brett rested by him. Eddy had trouble sleeping anyways,so he didn’t mind staying awake. Plus Brett looked so peaceful when curled by his side, like he was meant to be there. It was an odd feeling, drawing him to pet Brett’s hair, brushing his bangs out of his eyes. Reality was far different from the feelings he had, the bruising on Brett’s neck told him that, “I’m really no good for you.”
He whispered, but the longer he spent with Brett the more he didn’t want to believe it. Instead he tried to tell himself it was just an emotional response to trying to become distant from Alex. Distant from their romance. It was just rebound, something unhealthy when going through the confusion of emotions. Which meant he still was not good, he could only cause pain.Brett scrunched up his nose, feeling something tickle his forehead. He didn’t realize it was Eddy’s gentle fingers running through his bangs to make sure they weren’t falling down in his eyes. It felt nice still, though it was tickly. He enjoyed it. So he let out a tiny, content sigh. Everything was warm and safe, all curled up against… Eddy. He had fallen asleep next to Eddy. And that realization was enough to stir him awake. Eddy was sick. He was supposed to look after Eddy.
He blinked his eyes open, realizing quickly that he wasn’t wearing his glasses. Still, he recognized Eddy’s gentle eyes looking down at him, where he had curled up against Eddy’s side. He let out another sigh, but this time from disappointment towards himself. He really shouldn’t be all close to Eddy like this.“I’m sorry,” he mumbled, closing his eyes again. He supposed Eddy could have pushed him away if he didn’t want him there, so he decided not to mention his disappointment towards himself. “I didn’t mean to fall asleep.”
Eddy had his own guilt that ran through him, making him remove his hand from Brett’s hair. Guilt from strangling Brett and guilt for being in a confusing relationship but a relationship nonetheless, “Don’t be sorry, Bretty. You’ve been awake taking care of me for a long while. You can sleep now.”
“No, no, I’m… I’m not really tired. Just got comfortable,” Brett said softly, though it was a lie. He was so tired, physically for sure, but also mentally and emotionally. Mainly the last bit. He sat up a bit, rubbing his face. “You’re quite comfortable to sleep with.”
“You look tired,” Eddy spoke softly, he was half tempted to push Brett back down. Eddy thought of that for a second, looking at the man. He could do that, make Brett lay down so he would actually sleep.
“Well, you look tired too just after waking up,” Brett defended himself with a small shrug. He knew he shouldn’t allow Eddy to take care of him, because it only meant falling for him even harder. At this rate, he wasn’t sure how he would even fix it. Stop loving him. He had no idea. “I’m fine, I just… yeah. Just woke up.”
Eddy carefully put a hand on Brett’s chest, “You only slept a few hours, you can’t do this to yourself.”
He gently began to push Brett back down, he wanted to take care of the man. Or at least assure that he could sleep peacefully.Brett sighed as he was pushed down, feeling paralyzed to do anything but what Eddy’s gentle hand guided him to. He wasn’t doing anything to himself, though. At least he didn’t think so. He was doing something to Eddy, though. By being there and allowing Eddy to talk him into resting. He couldn’t resist Eddy’s gentle pressure, though.
“I swear, I’m fine,” he protested, but the protest had no weight to it whatsoever.“Nuh, uh,” Eddy looked down at Brett, keeping his hand at the center of Brett’s chest, “You need to lay down, you’re gonna exhaust yourself.” Maybe he would just lay on Brett to keep him down, but he knew that he probably shouldn’t do that. Shouldn’t force himself on Brett, at least he didn’t want to feel like he had.
