Victor put his ice cream tub on the table for a moment, having finished the whole thing. He couldn't help but feel a bit proud about the fact that Alex didn't seem as down as he had before, but he still found himself wondering what had made him sad in the first place. He figured by now that it was likely something related to Eddy being here, but if it was Eddy or something Eddy had said or whatever, he didn't know. He wanted to know, and though he didn't really realize it himself he wanted to know because he wanted to prevent it from happening again.
"So uh... you feeling any better?" Victor asked after it had been quiet between them for a bit. Their conversation about ice cream flavours and different foods to have with ice cream had died down a few minutes ago, leaving them to enjoy the ice cream in comfortable silence until Victor broke it."Yeah, a bit," Alex answered simply and softly. He was okay with the silence, he in fact liked the silence. It was no lie or surprise that he didn't like talking all too much. At least he was like that a lot of the time. He probably talked to Eddy the most and then his employer if you could call the organization that.
"I'm uh... I'm happy to hear that," Victor said, getting the faintest hint of pink over his cheek from how awkward he managed to make his reply. He really was happy to have actually managed to make him feel a bit better, though. He scratched his chin a bit, trying to think of something more to say. "So... uh... if you wanna talk about it... I guess... I'm here?"
Okay, that was definitely not sounding how he thought it in his head, but it would hopefully work anyway. He didn't want to push it, but he knew boss liked to whine about stuff that happened between him and his weekly girlfriends, so maybe whatever had happened while Eddy was here was something Alex would like to talk about. Victor didn't know, but he would offer, at least." All you need to know is that it's a big relationship decision. So thanks but no thanks, it's private." Alex could try to appreciate Victor trying, but he wasn't like Brett. Alex may look like the other man with certain features but he wasn't a whiner. Nor was Eddy like a weekly fling, he was a five year boyfriend that he had to come to grips with that he was leaving. That was a hard choice for him, and not one he was willing to share. In his opinion a private relationship should stay private.
Victor nodded a bit. He could relate to wanting to keep things private, but he still was a little disappointed about his attempt getting shot down. He didn't let his disappointment show, though.
"Do you want to be alone, then?" he asked softly instead, figuring he would go to the other extreme to see if that would be the right thing to do. He didn't really know how to deal with these kinds of things, but he was definitely trying. Why he was trying for the guy that had basically been forced upon him by his boss, he didn't know though."You don't have to leave, no," Alex glanced at him as if he could see through Victor's very soul. That was most likely due to the look in his eyes being similar to that of a dead fish. Pretty fitting for an assassin after all.
If he wanted to be alone he would have gotten up and left the bigger man. Yet he stayed so it was a sign of something.
"I know I don't have to, it's my living room," Victor said with a small shrug. He was trying to make half a joke, but wasn't sure if it came across well. "I'm asking if you would prefer me to."
Alex snorted, then rolled his eyes, "I am fine with you here, how about that?"
He raised an eyebrow at Victor. He would try to be a better guest that didn't blow up at one's host. He already got gently scolded once by Eddy. He didn't need that again."Well, that's better than most people, so I guess I can't complain," Victor said with a small smile. He wanted to cheer him up a bit, or at least it seemed like that's what he wanted. It wasn't really a conscious choice on his part, it just felt natural to try and put a smile on Alex' face. Why that was, though, Victor didn't know.
