Brett sat by Eddy for moral support, Eddy wasn't quite sure on why. Although he had a sinking feeling the man was worried that they would have a repeat of an aggressive fake break up then a letter to explain what had happened. With them ending somewhat back together. Eddy could understand Brett's concern, especially when it felt so good having his arms around his waist. It helped ease his nerves, he wasn't sure how Alex would react. What if Alex was pissed!? Well they probably wouldn't see each other again which wasn't the worst but he wanted to be on talking terms. Preferably if possible. Of course if it was impossible maybe he could still manage to be happy.
Brett must have sensed his anxiety as he listened to the phone ring for what seemed like forever, he gave Eddy a light squeeze, whispering quietly, "It's going to be okay.""I hope," Eddy leaned back with a soft sigh. Finally it sounded like Alex picked up! Victor knew they were gonna talk ahead of time, so hopefully it was the right person on the line.
"Alex?" he asked softly, having the phone on speaker. He wanted to talk with ease and cuddle with Brett. It was so much easier to do that with the phone on speaker. Plus it meant Brett could hear in case it all went sour, which Brett was rather grateful about. Way easier to help when you didn't have to guess what happened."Hey Eddy," Alex sounded awkward, like he had been thinking about something but wasn't sure how to express everything. This was a hard conversation after all, which could potentially hurt someone. It was a scary thought.
"We need to talk," they both said in unison before awkwardly pausing. Eddy slowly glanced at Brett who caught his gaze. It felt like his heart was going to beat out of his chest. What was it that Alex was going to tell him? Were they secretly on the same page or was it something he wouldn't want to hear. Brett gave an assuring smile, trying to be supportive while also trying to not pressure him into rushing this.
Carefully Eddy cleared his throat, "Oh uh, how about you go first?"
It would be easier to know what was on Alex's mind before he said something, right?"Well I've been thinking... What if the longer we wait to let go the harder it gets?" Alex carefully phrased as he spoke. He was obviously trying to see if Eddy agreed before he hopped into whatever was really on his mind, "And we know it's already doomed...."
"So are you saying it's time to let go?" Eddy wanted to cut to the chase but was nervous to, so he kept the ball in Alex's court. Waiting to see if he would say it.
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying," Alex listened to hear if Eddy was upset, would he scream or cry? Then again Eddy had sounded so calm while talking to him, while suggesting what he was trying to say.
"I've been thinking the same thing, actually. That it's time to say goodbye," Eddy smiled a bit, as he relaxed, "But like only romantically."Alex snorted, "Yeah I figured, we were friends before and you were still my friend despite the romance. You know? I want you to still be my friend now."
He chuckled in relief, Eddy could hear it in his tone. He was relieved too in all honesty. Everything was just getting so mentally taxing while they were trying so hard to hold onto something that was no longer possible."Okay then, so it seems like that I'm officially breaking up with you," Eddy laughed as he leaned back into Brett, he felt the urge to kiss him. To enjoy him and like he hadn't been able to do before. Brett wrapped his arm around him too, his heart fluttering.
"And I formally accept that you're breaking up with me," Alex couldn't help but laugh too, "So I
I'll talk to you later and let you do totally single things.""Yeah, doing totally single stuff. Anyways buh-bye" With that he hung up. Eddy grinned at Brett who rolled his eyes a bit playfully, a grin forming on his lips. He seemed less tense now that Brett knew where they all stood and that he wasn't necessarily a homewrecker. He turned in the man's arms so he could actually act on his urges and kiss the man.
