Once they had finished their boba, they made their way to the old noodle place they used to frequent as teens. If they remembered anything besides the amazing noodles, was that the family who owned it found it hugely disrespectful for someone to bring in another product from a competitor into their establishment. And the boys understood that, thus finishing and throwing the boba away first was the respectful thing to do.
Eddy found the old seats that they always used to sit at once they entered. It was a small bar area right in front of the glass with stools to go along with it, "I'd be weary to sit here now, but remember how we used to sit here and watch the people go by. Sometimes we just made stories up about them then laughed our heads off."
Eddy felt like he was in highschool again, but the highlight of it was being with Brett after school or tutoring hours.Brett chuckled softly, squeezing his hand.
"Remember the crazy haired guy who used to walk past like ten times in one day?" he asked back. The nostalgia was hitting, and he really enjoyed it. It was almost as if the last eight years hadn't happened.
"I do," Eddy snorted, "We thought he was a bit creepy. Dang, we probably weren't nice kids."
Eddy laughed as he sat in one of the stools to look out the window. He found himself watching the people who drifted by, he was relaxing into the old habits."We probably weren't. Good thing we're nicer adults, then... or are we?" Brett joked, sitting down across from him. His stomach was rumbling, ready for some proper sustenance. Boba was good, but it wasn't food.
"I somehow doubt that we're nicer adults. Maybe just more empathetic." Eddy smiled softly as he watched the people go by, "We'll have to go up to the counter to order probably, but it's kinda nice to just sit here and watch everyone.""I can go up and order, if you wanna?" Brett offered with a small smile, squeezing his hand again. It felt unreal that Eddy was there, and his, and that they were on a date, so he needed to check occasionally.
"Sounds good to me, remember what I like?" Eddy always enjoyed the shrimp tempura ramen, the broth always tasted so amazing. So was chomping into the shrimp, they were fried golden and were never too chewy. It really was good. Although it could have changed by now."Yeah theeee... shrimp tempura ramen, right? Cause you liked the chewy yet not too chewy shrimp?" Brett asked, standing up with a small smile.
"And the broth," Eddy chuckled warmly up at him, "But yeah, that's what I like and would still like please."
He couldn't help but giggle softly, it was crazy how much they remembered about each other but not completely unexpected."Alright, I'll be right back," Brett hummed, kissing his cheek and heading up to the line to order. He wanted the same thing, honestly, even though that's not what he used to get back in the day.
It sounded tempting, and he wanted to share the taste with Eddy.
Eddy simply watched Brett, it was probably dangerous to be by the glass where just anyone could see them. That was at the back of his brain, but he was distracted by the glorious form that was Brett. It was almost funny how much they dressed up for this, but it made Brett look even more regal amongst the people. It didn't take long before Brett forgot that he had styled his hair and ran his hand through it as he waited in line. There were a few people ahead of him, but he didn't mind. It was annoying that he had messed up his hair, though.
Eddy smiled softly, yeah, Brett was hot and cute. Eddy watched how Brett's hand moved through his hair, the dark hair was such a contrast to his pale skin. It was uniquely Brett, something that at least made him stand out to Brett. Carefully he turned away to look out the window and actually watch his surroundings. That was when he paused, catching a glimpse of someone he hadn't seen in forever...The cashier, an older lady, was nice, and took his order before shouting back to the kitchen in Mandarin what he had just ordered. He couldn't help but smile a bit, feeling the familiarity of it. It was always nice to know that the people working there were close enough to just shout at each other to get things done. And they had done this since he used to come here as a kid too, so it was once again nostalgia.
Eddy watched how the man laughed and then gently kissed his new blonde girlfriend. He looked happy and more importantly she looked happy and healthy... Dread filled his stomach as he watched the pair come towards the noodle shop.
Eddy made eye contact with Jeremy, the man paused, a frown becoming tight on his lips. Eddy could tell he told the beautiful woman to wait somewhere outside by the way his mouth moved. She seemed concerned for a moment but then smiled and nodded before slipping away. Damn, they were gonna eat ramen together, yet the man was looking at him with such hatred in his eyes. Oh and Eddy hated him too.
Jeremy was quick to open his mouth upon stepping inside, "Oh who are you dressed like that for."
There was a sneer in his tone and Eddy was dead certain the tone that the man was taking on was insinuating Jeremy thought he looked like a whore. Joke was on Jeremy this wasn't even the most whorish of his clothes and he liked it.
Eddy found himself frozen though, lacking a response but his eyes narrowed in disdain.
