The adrenaline level was still being maintained throughout Brett's bloodstream, but he had landed enough to realize just how much Eddy was bleeding. There was so much blood, and there definitely was no chance he could continue that all the way back to the mansion. Or maybe he was just too worried about Eddy getting even more hurt from his carelessness. Either way, he decided to pull into the parking lot of a shopping mall that had just closed for the day. He drove around to the back of the building and stopped the car in a spot where they wouldn't be seen from the highway going past.
"I've got a first aid kit in the trunk. I'll get it for you," he informed Eddy while unbuckling his seatbelt. He didn't feel great even leaving Eddy in the car while he was outside of it, but it was necessary.Eddy tried to focus, now that he was coming from his own adrenaline high. He felt like he was everywhere, it was either the drugs kicking in, his blood loss or the fact that he was thinking about his defeated self worth. Or it was all of it. Most definitely all of it. He leaned back into the seat, ugh his whole body was sore, "Okay...."
He nodded a bit, trying to stay lucid enough to be aware that Brett was there."I'll only be like... thirty seconds," Brett said, opening the car door and stepping out. He could be quicker than that, but he had to make sure nobody was around, that nobody was waiting in the bushes, that no sniper rifles were pointed at them. Was he possibly paranoid? A bit.
Once he deemed the coast to be clear, he got out of the car swiftly and opened the trunk. Of course the stupid first aid kit had been thrown around a bit during their race to get out of there, so the contents were a mess. At least it hadn't opened and scattered everything around in the back.
Eddy waited, running a shaky hand through his hair. He wasn't sure how to feel or what kind of emotions he had. He felt like he could laugh, cry or scream. Honestly he wanted to do all three. He felt that may draw too much attention though. Even if they seemed to be alone. How could they know if they were truly alone or not? Eddy had been watched for quite a few years, so he had learned to never trust being alone. There was always something or someone who had their eyes wide open that would see.
"Here," Brett said as he got back in the car, placing the first aid kit on the dashboard to open it carefully so everything wouldn't fall out and scatter everywhere. "Do you want me to help you, or do you want to do it yourself?"
"I th-think I... n need help," Eddy's words were a bit slurred, again due to the drugs taking their affect and secondly because his brain felt like it was made out of scrambled eggs at the moment. His skin felt unbearably hot and sensitive but with one hand broken and all he needed the help to bandage his arm injury. Hopefully the little flap didn't gross Brett out too much because he would be touching it here soon.
"Okay, I can do that," Brett said, taking a deep breath. He hadn't dared to look at how bad Eddy's injury was yet, but now he was suddenly forced to. He carefully took Eddy's hand, to turn it so he could see properly. It was gross to see his skin like that, though the most gross part for Brett was the fact that it was all covered in blood. "I... I think this is something Ray will have to do more properly when we get back... But let's flip that back in the right place and bandage it up, alright?"
His voice was a bit shaky, in part because the medical stuff had never been his forte and in part because of the adrenaline.
Eddy nodded a bit, "Yeah, yeah, sounds good."
He had no clue about who else's blood got into that, he had slit a lot of throats and shot quite a few too once he picked a gun up. It would definitely need to be cleaned but for now it needed to be closed off as for Eddy not to lose more blood. That would be for the best at the moment.
He flinched slightly when Brett took his arm, a little noise escaping with the touch. Well this sucked."It's just for the half an hour drive home," Brett mumbled, carefully putting Eddy's hand down so he could sanitize his hands before doing anything to the wound. That's one of the things he had learned, but also one of the only things. That and to bandage firmly if you're gonna. Two things that would be useful right then.
He got the hand sanitizer that was available in the first aid kit and tried his best to get the worst of the shit on his hands, which definitely wasn't easy. Then he took Eddy's arm gently again.
"Ready for me to move the... the skin?" he asked, feeling a bit faint from the thought he was about to move a large flap of Eddy's skin back in place. He could and would collect himself to get the job done, though, that was for sure."Ready," Eddy nodded, it was now or never. His skin felt all itchy when someone touched it, not for good reasons either. He tried not to show it though. He needed to focus himself and to anchor himself. He needed to get himself out of his weird jumbled funk before it all went down hill. It really was hard to deal with himself sometimes.
Brett pinched it between two fingers, keeping himself from gagging as he carefully lifted it and placed it back in what looked to be the correct position. It was gross, there was no way around it. There was also no question it needed to happen, though.
"There we go," he mumbled, clearing his throat. He held the piece of skin in place with his thumb while grabbing bandages with his other hand.Eddy tried not to focus on Brett's hands on his skin because his mind was going to other places with ease. With all consideration, that could become very bad. He looked away to glance out the window. He needed to distract himself. Maybe there was someone who had tracked them. It never hurts to look out right?
Brett got the bandages and began wrapping up Eddy's arm tightly as to stop the bleeding.
"I'm so sorry," he mumbled, in part referring to the fact that it might be hurting doing this, but also to the fact that if he had just made sure Eddy was actually safe, if he had been less careless, this wouldn't have happened at all."Not your fault, it's okay, " Eddy tried not to stammer as much. He closed his eyes, just trying to get himself together. He shifted a bit, crossing his legs to try to hide certain problems. Now he was starting to feel disgusting, as everything was setting in.
"Let's not talk about that now," Brett said with a small sigh. Oh yeah, it was his fault. There was not a shred of doubt in Brett's mind. "I'm sorry I didn't make it sooner, though."
Eddy took a deep breath, just trying to keep it all together, "It's okay, Brett. Crap happens."
He was starting to find his voice, making it more steady. He was used to this and the way he could fake composure was a sign of it. Really he felt like he was on a ledge, but he couldn't let that show.Brett didn't answer that, knowing arguing with Eddy about it was no use.
"How are you feeling?" he asked instead, feeling like Eddy was worryingly calm considering the fact his arm was pretty badly hurt. "I'm almost done with the bandage here, but if you have any other wounds or anything that needs to be taken care of you gotta tell me now."
"I have a few nails that got pulled out," Eddy was just trying to shut some things off so he could get through this 30 min drive. Once he got back to the mansion he would probably have his oncoming mental break in the bathroom. He just needed to hold off on it a bit because of priorities."Should I do anything about that now, or do you want to wait until we can meet up with Ray?" Brett asked him, fastening the bandage. He hadn't even seen the pulled out nails because of all the blood.
"Let's wait until we get to Ray, since it's not flapping or that much of an open wound or anything," Eddy took another deep breath to try to calm himself more. Only on the outside though. Everything on the inside was still scrambled.
