Do I stay or Do I go?

Victor turned his head towards the doorbell sound with a sigh. It had been so nice, just enjoying Alex's presence, feeling his gentle hands on his face as he rested his head in his lap. It felt amazing to be with him like this, feeling in a way he hadn't really thought was possible before now.

"That's probably Ray," he mumbled quietly, knowing he'd have to let him in. Alex's hand had healed quite a lot over the past few days, at least from what he had seen after being allowed to assist with changing the dressing on it. He knew what it meant, though, and he wasn't looking forward to it.

"Probably should let him in," Alex hummed softly, running his fingers through Victor's short hair, although it was more of head scratches. He knew he would have to leave Victor, but he was thinking. Thinking he would ask the man to join him. It wouldn't run the same dangers of asking Eddy. They were moving on and he liked Victor's company, it seemed natural that the next step would be to discuss that as an option.

"Yeah," Victor sighed, sitting up and stretching. He felt like delaying it. The moment the others knew that Alex had basically healed up, he knew it would be just a matter of hours before Alex was gone. Victor knew better than anyone exactly how efficient his boss could be, and he knew Brett had no reason to keep Alex around.

He only stood up when the doorbell sounded a second time, indicating to him exactly how long he had taken to get up.

Alex chuckled softly, "Seems impatient. Must be trying to get rid of me."

Maybe now that Brett knew he didn't have to share Eddy he was ready to get rid of possible competition. It was a mildly amusing thought.

"Yeah, seems like it," Victor said, maybe a bit quieter than how he had been around Alex lately. He shuffled over to the door and buzzed him into the building, peeking out of his apartment door to see that it was indeed Ray.

Ray opened the door when he was let in, giving Victor a wave.

"Hey, how are you?" he greeted him, shifting his bag to the other hand. He wasn't sure how the mood here was, as the last he had heard of these two together hadn't been pleasant.

Alex tilted his head back as he leaned more heavily into the couch, "Pretty good, doc."

He found it a fitting nickname for Ray, since the man did medical stuff. Alex still didn't trust it fully but Ray seemed trustworthy.

"Not really a doc, but I'm happy to hear," Ray hummed, taking his shoes off and stepping inside. Victor closed the door behind him, sneaking past him to sit in the chair rather than lying back down where he came from. Public affection wasn't really his thing, no matter how much he wanted to be as close to Alex as possible.

"Here to check my wrist?" Alex hummed, figuring that would be the only thing Ray would be there to do. He rolled up his sleeves so the man could get a better look.

"Yes, didn't Victor tell you?" Ray asked, coming to sit by Alex. He thought the tension in the room was weird, but he still grabbed a pair of gloves from his bag.

"Mentioned it briefly," Alex hummed as he watched Ray, he didn't see the man as a threat. So it helped him relax and have a silent confidence.

"Well, may I have a look?" Ray asked, holding his hand out for Alex to place his in. He wanted to have a proper look, and needed to carefully undress the dressing to do so. He hoped it had turned out okay.

Alex carefully put his hand into it, "You may."

It wouldn't do any good to refuse, he had no reason to either. It was just Ray's job and Alex knew this would lead to the safest course of action.
