// Trigger warning: Sexual violence and past rape //

"See you soon :)" was all it said and maybe it would be more friendly or exciting if it wasn't for what it was written on. Something that haunted him, that still kept him up at night. He still remembered it so well, and could still feel it on his skin. The touches, the pain, the loathing and hate.

He didn't know how he ended up on the floor but he did, his knees up to his chest and hands clutching at his head to protect himself from: nothing. At least it seemed that way to any onlooker but to him, he was reliving it, being retraumatized.

Tears pressed at his eyes as he shrieked, shrieked until his throat hurt and it fizzled out. His cries could only become soft pleads but even those felt unheard.

A chill went through Brett as he heard it, the pained scream from Eddy. It sent him running, dropping the empty champagne bottle on the kitchen floor. He didn't care about that, he needed to get to Eddy.

He rushed up the stairs, slamming the door open. Once there, he realized Eddy was alone.

"Eddy," Brett called out to him, making his way to him with quick steps before dropping to his knees by him. He pulled him close, wanting to keep him safe. "Eddy mine, it's okay. I'm here. You're safe."
He hadn't yet noticed the envelope, or its contents.

"Please..." Eddy whimpered, trying to curl up more on himself, he didn't feel safe. Oh god he was going to die wasn't he, he was just gonna die here. His breath got caught in his throat, as he struggled to get air in and out.

"I got you, Eddy," Brett said softly, squeezing him slightly. He was immensely worried for him, of course, but he needed to stay calm for him. "Take a deep breath for me, love. You're safe, I won't let anything happen to you."

Eddy flinched at the squeeze at first, but soon it clicked with him that it was helping him actually breathe. His mumblings stopped as he just let Brett hold him, although mentally he wasn't 100% sure who it was. It felt like Alex, because he was in that moment, the moment Alex opened their apartment door in a frenzy. Yelling his name, until he came onto the pitiful sight of him.

"There we go, you're doing so good," Brett said softly, squeezing him slightly again. He had no idea what was going on, but kind of figured it was a panic attack. "You're gonna be okay, I promise. I got you."

Eddy tried to bury his face against Brett, he needed to know that he was there. That there was someone there other than the looming figure that stood behind him. Other than the man who pushed him to his knees before shoving his face against the cold floor. There were hands on him! He could feel them all over, grabbing him and pulling him every which way. Forcing their way to take something that never belonged to them. Something that didn't even belong to him anymore.

"All safe, Eddy mine. Promise," Brett repeated softly, carefully stroking his back as he held him. His poor man. What had even triggered this? Brett couldn't see anything obvious, but then again he hadn't looked for anything. The most important part was to calm Eddy down, then he'd figure it out. "I got you."

Eddy wheezed a little as he pushed air out of his lungs, he was slowly coming to it. He could smell Brett, instead of the blood that he felt surrounded him. He slowly moved his hands from his head, gently putting them on Brett. He tried to make sure he was there. Tears still ran down his cheeks and his breathing uneven but it was better.

Brett carefully reached a hand out to gently wipe some tears from Eddy's cheek with his thumb.

"Take a deep breath for me, Eddy," he instructed gently, still holding one arm securely around him. "You're gonna be okay, love."

Eddy pressed into Brett's hand a little as he tried to take a deep breath, his breathing still felt so shallow. When it got caught in his throat he began to hiccup. It was probably from everything that went down his throat, like the congestion that started with the production of tears.
