Eddy's eyes were focused elsewhere, it seemed they had been falling back into their old habits. Staying at the ramen shop even after they finished and just watching the people go by, telling wild stories about the strangers. Eddy felt more relaxed than he had in years, this was familiar to him. It showed that even if they had changed as people, it seemed that some things never changed. Even if they had been apart for eight years.
The sky was growing dark and they'd probably be kicked out here soon. Eddy definitely didn't want their date to end here though. There was so much more he wanted to experience with Brett.
Eddy tilted his head back as he looked at Brett, "I know a place I'd love to bring you to watch the stars."Brett pulled his eyes off the guy who had passed them before and was now moving up the street to look at Eddy again. His beautiful Eddy. It was insane that this was real, but after pinching his arm multiple times he simply had to believe it.
"I'd love to watch the stars with you. Is it far?" he asked softly, carefully reaching out to take Eddy's hand like he had done it a million times over. It felt like he had, even though this was their first proper date and one of the first few times of them holding hands.
"Not too far, it's in the park," Eddy smiled gently at him, "Maybe we can grab a blanket to lay in the grass. Or anything else that you'd like to bring.""Maybe some chocolates to enjoy too?" Brett suggested, not able to help smiling back at him. "I think I have some at home, if we're picking up a blanket anyway."
"Sounds lovely, let's grab stuff from home. Could stuff it all in a picnic basket," Eddy smiled warmly, sure they weren't going on a picnic but it would make it easier to carry everything."I think maybe I have one, but we'll see," Brett chuckled softly, standing up to get going. He stretched a bit, having sat there for a long time. Somehow it felt like it had only been a few minutes, though.
Eddy stood up with him, interlacing their fingers, he enjoyed how it felt even closer since it pressed their palms even more so together, "If there isn't one, there's probably bags that we could shove things in."
He would suggest bringing a bottle of wine or champagne but that wasn't exactly allowed in a public park."Or a backpack," Brett hummed, tiptoeing up to kiss Eddy's cheek quickly before carefully leading the way out of the noodle place. He waved slightly at the lady behind the counter as they headed out, just like he used to when they were kids.
Eddy watched him, it almost seemed like he could see Brett from the past, seeing that same nerdy teen that he had seen many times walk by his side. He blinked his eyes, present Brett coming back into his gaze. Yeah, this was the man he loved. The man he had always loved, despite moving on. Those feelings were like a flood that had been locked behind a flood gate, but now they had been opened and the feelings were now here in full force. In his silence he simply admired the man, Brett really had grown up to be quite handsome. Brett had always been handsome to him, but the maturing had done Brett well.It took the slight breeze outside to remind Brett to actually take a deep breath. Being with Eddy made him feel relaxed. Almost too relaxed, honestly, to the point of his breathing and his heart rate slowing. Holding Eddy's hand was so nice, too. Felt like a safe haven as they made their way down the sidewalk, and he couldn't help leaning slightly against his man as they walked, hugging his arm like a lost child. He supposed he had felt quite lost without Eddy.
Eddy shifted, letting go of Brett's hand to in turn put his arm around Brett. He wanted to draw him close, especially since he was hugging his arm, "I love you Brett."
He whispered softly, then pressed his lips to the top of Brett's head. Eddy wanted to make sure he felt loved.Brett couldn't help but let out a content sigh when he was pulled close, his cheeks warming up slightly. He tilted his head to look up at Eddy.
"I love you too, Eddy. So much, you have no idea," he said softly, leaning his head slightly against him again.
"Well hopefully I get to explore just how much you love me, and likewise." Eddy wanted them to last, but every time he thought a relationship was forever something always happened to end it. This though, felt like it could actually be for the long run. Then again he had felt that with Alex. Eddy didn't know where this would lead but he knew what he hoped for.
