One last time

"See you soon," Victor said in his sleepy voice, listening for the little beep as the boss hung up. It was show time.

Alex turned over to drape an arm around Victor, although the bed was already pretty small for both of them, so he was already pretty close, "Hmm what was that all about?"
The tone of it seemed concerning.

Victor sighed, pulling Alex close and giving him a squeeze for what would be the last time in the way too small bed.
"That was boss," he explained softly. "We gotta go."

"Time already?" Alex lifted an eyebrow, he guessed he shouldn't be surprised since he knew it was soon. But this still seemed earlier than he expected.

"Yeah, apparently they found a note in their house," Victor said in a soft tone. "So I guess we better start packing the most important stuff to bring on the boat."
"A note?" Alex slowly pulled away, he always had a questioning mind and couldn't help but to ask questions. What could be on the note that made them wish to leave sooner?

Victor nodded, carefully sitting up in bed.
"He didn't say much, but the boat leaves in an hour, so we better get going," he said, stretching a bit. He hoped the ride wouldn't be too uncomfortable.

"Okay, okay," Alex nodded, he'd relent for now seeing that Victor didn't have the answers. There wasn't much that could be done, but there was clearly something that had spooked Brett and Eddy.

A moment later Victor rolled out of bed and began grabbing a few different items of clothing, most of which were of the comfortable kind. He was considering if he'd have time for a super quick shower as the boat ride certainly wouldn't allow for one.

Alex watched him for a good few seconds, most of his own things had been packed for awhile in expectation of leaving. The only things that weren't were the things that he had worn. So it seemed he would have to gather that up, "Looks like I should have given you more notice before inviting you to come with me, huh?"

"Not gonna lie, I thought I had another week or so to pack at least," Victor said with a small shrug. "I probably won't need much, though. Some basic hygiene stuff and clothes, no?"

"Yeah, not much. Only the things you find important to you. All my stuff is practically packed so if you need help, I can help." Alex offered gently.

"Oh uhm, I think maybe I'll prioritize taking a quick shower, actually... maybe you could start getting some clothes for me into the backpack?" Victor asked softly. He wasn't used to people doing things for him, which made him feel a bit awkward being asked.

"Of course, any specific clothing that you specifically want?" Alex hummed softly. He knew this was all short notice so he'd feel like a prick if he did nothing.

"Uhm one of the bigger hoodies, a pair of sweatpants and a pair of jeans? And some underwear and socks?" Victor half asked back. He hadn't thought much about this at all, really. It had only been a few days since he was asked, and it still felt a bit surrealistic that he was actually going. The guy hadn't even been able to say goodbye to anyone! Still, he wanted to go, there was no doubt in his mind about that.

"Sure, I can get those things. " Alex nodded. There was always an option to buy new things once settled down. They just needed to make it out of Australia alive. That was the biggest concern, leaving without any harm.

"Thanks," Victor said softly, putting down the stuff he had gathered on the bed. "I'll leave most of it, boss said he could do a shipment or two if needed."

"That would be lovely of Brett, considering the short notice I think," And considering it was the middle of the night without any warning. Although Alex had a hunch beforehand that it would be in the middle of the night. Since it was easier to sneak about in the darkness.

"Yeah, I agree. Got a bunch of stuff I'd like to keep, but that I don't have any way to bring on the boat," Victor said softly. "Anyway, I'll shower real quick. Gimme a minute or so."

"I'll gather your stuff up during that time," Alex walked to Victor's dresser to pull out some of the things that the man had mentioned.
