Better late than never

Ray was rushing. Rushing back from the pharmacy, rushing inside, rushing up the stairs. He didn't even knock. Hell, it might even be too late. Who knew how Brett would get the assassin to agree to go to a hospital if he was hurt?

He did have them in his hand, though. The pills that would save Eddy's life. Hopefully.
"I'm back. I have them. I'll... I'll get water..." he stuttered as he caught his breath, tossing the plastic pill bottle onto the bed. He was already feeling his heartbeat in his ears and in his throat, and his hands shook as he got the glass of water. "He's to take... take... two... two every... uh... Every four hours."

Eddy's eyelids felt heavy but he still dared to open his eyes to look at Ray. He had rested his head on Brett's chest, a bit dazed and completely forgetting personal space. He simply knew that the sound of Brett's heart beating kept him anchored in reality, "Hmm...? What are they?"

His voice was hoarse and quiet but he seemed to understand.

Brett sat up carefully, letting Eddy lean on him still. The poor man was weak, so very very weak. He was honestly terrified he'd just die there in his arms.
Still, he carefully took the bottle Ray had tossed at them and read the label carefully.
"Beta blockers," he informed Eddy in a calm voice despite not feeling calm at all.

"It's... it'lll..." Ray tried to explain as he came back with the glass of water in his shaky hands, almost spilling on their little blanket fortress of safety. He tried to take a deep breath to gather himself before continuing. "It'll h... help your blood pressure come down. You've been on them for a long time and.... Well... coming off them suddenly is bad."

"Oh, when can I be off them?" Eddy's eyes fluttered a bit, even though he talked in full sentences. He was still very present but didn't necessarily have the capacity to continue on as he was. He never felt like he had this sort of reaction before from not taking his meds, then again, he hadn't taken his meds at all with Brett so it was a much larger gap than usual.

"I honestly haven't planned that far," Ray admitted as he watched Brett unscrew the cap and take out two of the pills. He truly admired how calm his boss was in this situation. "But... in theory, once we get your blood pressure stabilized and you feel all better... we should be able to gradually decrease the dose over a few weeks. It's just the... the... the sudden, prolonged stop... it's really dangerous."

"You won't be on them forever, but right now it's important you do, okay?" Brett said softly, stroking Eddy's back. "Okay? Or do you have any other questions?"

He didn't want Eddy to feel forced to take them, but in reality he had to if he was going to live.

"No more questions, just odd," Eddy murmured as he nodded a bit. It caused his head to throb though so he immediately stopped, "I'll take them."

He lifted his arm to rub his eyes but it was too hard to lift.

"What do you mean by odd?" Brett asked softly. He wanted Eddy to feel okay with this, but Ray's death glare from him delaying the medicating of this poorly man made him carefully sit Eddy up more properly and get the pills ready.

"Because I never took my meds regularly," Eddy's eyes threatened to close again but he forced them to stay open. Despite how hard it was to.

He leaned back against whatever he could to get himself more comfortable.

"You've been off them for quite a long time, though. And it doesn't guarantee a spike in blood pressure either, but it makes it a lot more likely," Ray told him, basically shaking like a tree in the wind where he stood. He needed the boy to take the medication preferably yesterday.

"Let's talk more about this once you've taken them, okay? The important part is to make sure you're healthy, and we can speculate after," Brett said softly, holding firmly onto Eddy who was leaning more heavily back against him. "Are you able to do it yourself, or should I pop them in your mouth for you?"

"Help me, " Eddy licked his lips, he knew he needed help even if it may feel like forcefully being drugged. It was a familiar feeling but he had to tell himself that this was for helping not for harming.

"Okay, please open your mouth, then," Brett said softly, stroking his arm a bit with his free hand. "You'll feel two pills. They're both beta blockers okay?"

Ray stood ready with the glass of water. Eddy really was a lot weaker than when he had left.

"Okay," Eddy slowly opened his mouth, trying not to panic. Honestly though, he didn't even have enough energy to be triggered. Would be nice if he didn't ever get triggered, alas life wasn't kind.

"Good job," Brett said as he carefully put the two pills into Eddy's mouth. "Ray's gonna give you a tiny sip of water to swallow it with, okay?"

Eddy nodded as much as he could since he didn't want to talk with pills in his mouth. His eyes carefully shifted to Ray to say he was ready to take the water, or at least be given it.

Ray carefully moved closer and held the glass of water carefully to Eddy's lips. He figured he should have had a straw for him to drink out of, but honestly his brain wasn't working. This was why he wasn't a fully trained doctor. He couldn't handle the stress, he couldn't handle the blood and he didn't really love it. Yet here he was playing doctor with someone's life.

Eddy lifted his hands to gently tilt it more and chug the water. His hold wasn't really good though so it was good that Ray steadied it. Silently he drank, even when some water spilled over.

Ray was careful, making sure he didn't choke on the water. It was good he was drinking water, though, so he let him. Once the glass was empty he stepped back again.
"Does your chest hurt at all?" he asked softly.

"Just a bit tight," Eddy spoke after he swallowed, he licked his lips, they were damp with water. Now they were damp from his own spit. His stomach felt his stomach churn from the pills and water. It felt as if it was already sloshing violently.

"Okay, that's... that's okay," Ray said with a small nod. Not uncommon for his condition. "If... if it's okay, I'd prefer to stay and monitor you."

Brett carefully pulled Eddy more into his lap, cradling him like a baby. He just wanted to protect the man.
"That's okay, Ray. Whatever you need to keep him safe," he said softly as he pulled the blankets around Eddy and very gently rocked him."We'll keep you safe, Eddy. You can rest some more now."

Eddy cuddled against Brett, finding this to be the most natural and normal thing. Despite being an introverted assassin, he did enjoy human touch and interaction, "You can monitor me, I'm used to it. I've been monitored a lot in my life."He murmured, whether that monitoring came from Jeremy, a facility or the organization, it had become a common thing in Eddy's life. So a little more wouldn't kill him now. Instead of paying any mind to it, he finally closed his eyes like he had been wanting to.
