He might not realise it or admit it, but he can't just keep working without taking a break. It's physically and mentally draining, and so you instruct him to relax for a bit while you do the chores and shopping and stuff. One of the thing he does to "relax" is watch talk shows and rant about the people on it. Its loud and he gets very into it, but at least it's not him working on a case.

John needs a break, so you make him stay home for a week. In that time, you make sure he sleeps and takes the time to do other things he loves to do that doesn't include helping Sherlock on a case. He appreciates the quiet time, and tells you how much he loves you for helping him.

He doesn't say it, but you know he wants you to baby him a bit. He likes it when you make him food and care for him and tuck him in bed. Even little things like brushing your teeth together makes him really happy.

You take him away from the weekend to relax away from the stress of London and work. It's a surprise when you tell him to make sure he books Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off, but then he gets really excited when he realises why. He loves the long weekend breaks he gets with you, and savours every minute of it.
MYCROFT

Mycroft lets you deal with some of his biggest stresses, like Sherlock. He knows you would do anything to help him, and you are the only person he trusts to look after his brother while he takes a break. If he feels like it will be too much on you, he'll be worried and try to talk you out of it, but then he always realises that you can handle it. He's too tired to argue anyway.
