44: I'm Not Okay

“Okay, I’m going to lead for now, Fubuki will command. If you see any enemies about to attack, scream the magic word. The magic word is ‘oh no’. Yeah, that’s two words, too bad if you want something spunky. And remember, I’m a dog. I still have really good senses, and I am not stupid. I probably knew all your great great great grandparents, don’t think I’m old either because for my kind I’m about eighteen. Anyways, forget that. If one of you needs a break, inform me and I’ll stop. It’s not good to have a hurt ninja. We need all you guys in tact for this mission. Do not use chakra, only if we need to fight. But if it is before we reach Orochimau’s lair, use as little as possible. Got it? Or you’ll die. This man is a very skilled and smart man, he’ll not expect us to be coming since this mission is so unpredictable. Now, if you have something of Sasuke’s, any of you, put it in front of me and I’ll catch his scent. It shouldn’t have changed since he left while everyone puts on their gear.” Shadow said, he was pacing like a general.
I threw Sasuke’s shirt in front, Naruto threw Sasuke’s headband. We all put on our communication gear.
We all tested the headset microphones. They worked like a charm.
Shadow walked up and started smelling the items, his ears then perked up. He glared at Sakura.
“Hey, I’m special, that’s why I can talk.” he said, irritated, then his ears flicked back a second. He bent back down, grabbing the headband with his teeth. He snapped his snout up, the headband flying into the air. He then extended his neck straight forward, so the headband landed on the lower part of his neck. His teeth started tying the head band on his neck, skillfully I might add.
“Wow.” I commented, Shadow gave me a wolfy grin.
“Thanks.” he said, then turned to my teammates. “My scent can not change the sent of Sasuke’s headband. It was either I wear this or the shirt, and no way I’m wearing a shirt. I’m not a ‘pampered poodle’ or a dress up doll. I am a dog. Clothes are not meant for my kind. That’s why I have fur.” Shadow stated, a few giggles came from my group.
He then turned to the entrance of the village.
“Let’s go! Make sure you can keep up.” Shadow replied. He then started running, his speed was remarkable. Each person ran, but no one got less than a foot away from him he was so fast. We could still trace him though, which was excellent.
We ran for several hours, each one of us was panting and groaning. Shadow wasn’t even tired.
“Stop!” I cried out, Shadow immediately stopped. I tried stopping and tripped right over him, he let out a yelp and then looked down at me, annoyed.
“Tail.” he stated, I moved my butt so I was off his tail. “Thanks.” he said.
“No......Problem.....” I breathed.
“So, how is every-“ Shadow stopped when he saw everyone was panting, lying on the floor. Everyone was exhausted. “Wow.” he stated, then sighed. “I’ll slow down.”
“What a drag.” Shikamaru muttered.
“I haven’t ran that fast since ....Ever.” Mikey stated, Sakura giggled and smiled at him. Mikey grinned back.
Shadow sat down and looked at me, the gem on his head gleamed in the sunlight. He trotted over to me and put his snout in my hand. I curiously looked at him, I was about to ask what he was doing until I suddenly felt energized again. He went to each person and helped them out.
“Thank y-you.” Hinata stuttered to my dog, and walked over to me. She smiled. “Here, l-let me help you u-up.” she said, then held her hand out. I smiled and took it.
“Thank you.” I said, nicely. Then looked over at Shadow. “How far from Orochimaru?” I asked.
Shadow sniffed the air. “Hmm, if we slow down a little maybe like a day. But if we don’t, a half a day. I can’t keep handing out energizers, though.” he said, then looked at the sunset. “This is where we’ll stay for the night. If we keep on moving, we’ll get lost in the darkness.” he said, then lay down next to me. He closed his eyes, then opened them. I patted him, then sat up and looked around.
Sakura and Mikey were flirting non stop, which I found confusing. Does she want my brother, or my ex?
I shook my head, then looked over and saw Ishiko and Hinata talking.
“So, when you go near him don’t faint. Just act strong, maybe act like you don’t care, and be cool. Okay, kid?” Ishiko said, I chuckled and sat down with them.
“Don’t tell her that, she should be herself.” I said, Hinata smiled softly at me.
“Thank you.” she stated.
I nodded, then gave a small smile. “That’s what Sasuke liked about me. How I was myself around him.” I admitted, I ignored the pang in my heart.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, and looked up to see Hinata had put her hand on my shoulder. I smiled.
I heard cat calls, and turned to see Mikey and Sakura kissing. Everyone around was whistling. I chuckled.
“Fubuki,” Ishiko called. I looked over.
“Eh?” I asked.
“You’re better.” she said, I nodded.
“Thankfully.” I replied. I bit my lip, then got up and walked over to Shadow. I lay down next to him. I looked over at him, I had learned his abilities. He told me last night. “Can you make me see Sasuke?” I asked in a soft whisper.
Shadow hesitated. “It’ll affect you.”
“I don’t care.” I said, firmly.
Shadow sighed, then put his head on my stomach while laying down. He let out a whisper, I couldn’t understand the words.
I gasped as my sight turned black, then swirled in colors. This was as clear as day. I saw Orochimaru training Sasuke. Sasuke was breathing hard, he swayed a little.
“You’re weak. What were you doing the whole time at Konoha?” Orochimaru asked, crossing his arms.
Sasuke looked up, gasping for breath. “N-nothing.” he replied. “I trained.”
“Did you get real close to anyone?” Orochimaru asked.
It was silent.
“No.” Sasuke answered firmly.
I broke out of the jutsu, gripping my head. I let out a scream. Shadow, not expecting this, jumped off of me and put his paw on my stomach.
“Fubuki, calm down.” He said gently.
“Fubuki?” I heard my name being called all around me, with “is she alright?” .
I was not alright. I was not okay.
