Sasuke.
“Oh. I’m just......” I sighed. “I’m thinking.”
Sasuke walked over and sat down next to me. His eyes looked for mine. I kept my hair in the way so he couldn’t see I felt my hair being pushed back, and turned to see Sasuke had moved my hair. I turned so I was facing him, our eyes locked. What was he doing? This was so unlike him.
“You were hurt?” he questioned. “I was, too. But not like how you were.” he said, his eyes gazed to my left arm.
I put my hair in front of the upper part of my arm, I hid the bottom part with my backpack. I didn't want to talk about it, let alone show it.
“Yes, the man who killed my clan thought I was dead.” I replied, leaning back, my eyes adverting to the lake once more It was gorgeous, moonlit and shimmering.
“He hurt your arm, didn’t he?” Sasuke asked.
“No.” I lied. He grabbed my chin gently and turned my head so I was looking at him.
“Did he hurt your arm?” he asked again, a little more urgent this time, his eyes were locked on mine.
“No.” I said. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
“Why is it so hard to admit it?” he asked.
I put my head in my hands, then looked up at him.
“It’s a huge reminder. I can’t look at it.” I admitted.
“Take the bandages off, I want to see your arm.” Sasuke said.
“No.” I said firmly.
“Let me.” he demanded.
“Not even Eiko has seen my arm!” I protested, he rolled his eyes.
“I don’t care,” he said. “Let me see!”
“No!”
“Yes.”
“No, Sasuke please no.” I said.
“Please?” he said, this time sincere.
I thought for a moment.
“You’re not letting this go until I show you.” I asked, it was more like a statement though.
“Hit a nail on the head.” he replied, smirking.
I sighed, then unwrapped my arm and looked away.
After a moment, I felt fingers on my arm. I gasped and pulled my arm away.
“D-don’t touch.” I said, shakily. I thought of how the kunai felt cutting my arm open when he did that. I had left my arm untouched and unseen for so long, I was not used to this.
“No, get over it and let me see your arm.” he said. I unwillingly held out my arm. I felt his hand clasp around my wrist gently while the other hand traced the ugly scar.
“It’s so ugly.” I sighed.
“No, it’s not. It’s interesting. It tells its own story.” he said.
I thought for a moment, then snorted.
“I feel like Nemo, with a bad fin. Except I have an arm.”
“And your not a fish.” he said.
I started giggling, then put my hand on my mouth. My eyes widened.
That was the first time I’ve laughed in years.
He looked at me and grinned.
“You have a nice laugh.” he said, I put my hand on my other hand, which was resting on my knee. I looked down.
“That’s probably the only time you’ll hear me laugh.” I said.
“Why?” he asked.
“Because nothing makes me happy anymore.” I admitted. "I just can't find a reason to be happy."
“Same here.” he admitted as well. I suddenly had an idea.
“Hey, lets be good friends.” I said.
He raised his eyebrow at me.
“I’m not a fan girl and your not annoying. We both went through the same thing.” I said.
He thought about it for a moment.
“Fine.” he said.
I frowned.
“Hey, meanie butt. I’m not going to want to if you seem unwilling.” I said.
“Meanie butt?” he asked. “Tch. Haven't heard you say that before.” he pointed out.
Man, I was bringing up the past so much today. That’s what I used to call Mikey when I got mad at him.
“I know.” I said, then got up.
“Fine, we can be friends.” he said, then got up when I did.
“The bestestest?” I asked, mimicking Sakura. I did it pretty well.
He smirked.
“The bestiest.” he said. "Loser." He added, causing me to smirk. I realized that the both of us probably hadn't been this close to anyone in a long time. Sure, it was a short conversation, but I doubted he had a longer conversation than that in a while.
I walked beside him back to camp, then went into my sleeping bag. He went into his.
About fifteen minutes later, I was in a deep sleep. I had found peace in my conversation with Sasuke.
