I was walking throughout my house, talking to my older brother, Michelangelo. We were the same age. Eight. But he was older by two minutes. He was my twin. He was my favorite sibling, we got along perfectly. He was always so bright and funny.
There was a loud crash, causing us to jump. Mikey looked at me, eyes wide.
“What was that?” he asked.
“I don’t know......” I replied, looking around the house. “It sounded like it came from the front of the house.” I said, me and Mikey curiously went there.
There were many ninjas there, fighting people of my clan. Everyone was fighting, including Tanji. She was only a year older than I, too.
“Watch out!” I heard, I looked up to see a giant wave coming in the direction I was in. I ran out of the way quickly, I hid behind my auntie’s house. The water spread around the compound, I felt it soak my feet. I gasped when I noticed Mikey was no where to be seen. I ran inside the house to look for him, I heard my mother’s voice.
“Fubuki, hide!” she cried. I curled up inside a blanket in the back of the main room, I was unseeable. I moved the blanket so I had a little peep hole. I saw my mother looking at my father with a sad expression, they didn’t know I had decided to hide here. I was about to inform them before I saw a kunai go straight through my mother. She collapsed to the floor and let out a scream. My father bent down and held her, his eyes were wide.
“Nami!” my father screamed my mother’s name. My mother gasped, her eyes locked on him. Her eyes fluttered closed, she didn’t move after a while. My father started sobbing harder, he got up and looked at someone at the door.
“Why are you doing this?” he asked them softly, he took out a katana, ready to fight. He fought for a while before my siblings came out.
I closed my eyes and tried to fade out the screams. I was defenseless. I didn’t graduate from the ninja school even, I couldn’t save them.
They died because I couldn’t save them.
I felt myself being lifted up.
“Ahaha, look. Another one.” the man said, his voice cruel. I opened my eyes and saw my family, dead on the floor. I screamed in shock, the sight scared me. The man who was holding me slammed me against the wall, he took out a kunai and stabbed me in the stomach. The pain was intense, I cried out as he stabbed me once more, and again. He then pulled the kunai and dragged it along my left arm, from shoulder to wrist. The blood pooled out, I felt myself growing dizzy. He threw me to the floor.
“Pathetic.” he teased, walking away. My vision blurred, and I slipped into the darkness.
When I woke up, I was in a hospital. A lady was watching over me, she was a nurse. She frowned as I tried getting up, I screamed in pain. My stomach wasn’t all the way healed. I looked down at the bed, my arm catching my eye. It was bandaged up. Last night’s events came flooding back to me.
“Is my family okay?” I asked, I still had hope.
The nurse shook her head sadly. “They....They...Didn’t make it.” she said quietly, closing her eyes.
All my hope was gone. I had no one anymore. I was alone.
When I was able to leave the hospital, I did. I started my training, I trained hard every day.
I never went back to the Mayuko compound again.

Everyone was silent for a moment after I said my story. The story hadn’t brought any tears to my eyes, I had cried long enough about this. I left out the part about my arm. I didn’t want them to look at it. I couldn’t even look at it myself. I touched my left arm. The bandages didn’t need any changing, which was good.
“We should set up camp here.” Kakashi-sensei said. I nodded, we put sleeping bags on the floor. The order of the sleeping bags was Naruto, then Sakura begged to be next to Sasuke (go figure), then after Sasuke was me, and then Kakashi.
I looked into the sky, looking at the beautiful stars.
Tanji loved stars. I remember her going out late and looking up at the stars, my parents would lecture her on how she needed sleep. She wouldn’t listen, she was just too in love with the sky.
I can’t believe I just thought that. I blocked out all thoughts of my family for years, to avoid the pain to come back even worse. I hated having to tell the story of the massacre. It made me relive childhood, just to remember that all those people are no longer in my life. I could no longer see their smiling faces or listen to them speak about their passions. They were gone.
“Hey Fubuki.” I heard, I turned over to see Naruto looking at me.
“Yeah?” I asked, trying to act like I was fine.
“If you ever need a friend, I’ll be here. “ Naruto said. His words hit me hard. He actually wanted to be my friend. People never told me this. I had never tried being close to anyone besides Eiko.
“Me, too.” Sasuke said, looking at me. I looked down, biting my lip. My eyes closed for a second as I thought.
“Thank you guys. I know you two would understand me better than most people.” I said, then went to go hug Naruto. He hugged me back, then I went to go hug Sasuke. He hugged me back as well, but after a moment of hesitation. My heart skipped a beat, I didn’t know why though.
I sat down and looked at Naruto, who started to speak.
“When I grew up, no one liked me. I had no friends. No one even wanted to go near me, and I had no family. I was a freak.” Naruto said. That must have hurt for him.
“Do you dream of becoming Hokage because of that?” I asked. Naruto nodded.
“Yes...” he said, then before he lay down, he said something that surprised me. “That Michelangelo guy sounded like a great brother.”
I smiled widely.
“Oh, he was. He would always make me laugh. If he was still alive-......” I stopped speaking and let out a sigh, then looked away. I lay down without another word.
I didn’t go to sleep until late. I kept on thinking about my family. Restless, I got up from my makeshift bed and walked to the river that was closeby our camp site, and I sat down next to it, trying to find at least a smidge of peace to help my restlessness fade. I looked down at my reflection, letting out a breath. I reached out and touched the water with the tips of my fingers, little ripples of water started ruining the image of my face. I had wanted it to. I didn’t want to look at myself.
“What are you doing?” I heard. The voice caught me off guard, the person was right behind me. I turned to see...
