HOME IS WHERE YOU ARE

Charlis POV:
Today my life changes. I get to leave my parents and start my life with the one person I love. The one person I have ever really cared about. A few days ago I was torn, I was completely devastated because chase was leaving. It's funny how much things can change in a few days. Today was supposed to be the second worst day of my life, first prize will always go to December 6th thanks to bill.  But today has turned out to be one of the best days of my life. I finally get to leave my family. Family. I shouldn't call them family because that's not what we were. We were never a family.

On paper it might seem like I'm ruining my life to be with a guy I met a few months ago, but In reality he saved me from my life. Living in a trailer while I'm 17 doesn't sound like the dream life but for me it is. I get to spend every day with the person I love. I get to wake up and see his face. I'm not one bit sad that we are leaving. I see why chase would be sad, he is leaving his family behind. But I'm not. Chase is my family.

We could live on the streets and I'd still be happy with him.

Chase came back downstairs a few minutes later. Minutes we don't have.

Charli: "what took you so long?

I took a closer look at him and It looked like he had just been crying-
What the-

Chase: "nothing. I just couldn't find what I was looking for"
He sniffled

Yup he was just crying.
Why?

Charli: "are you okay?"

What happened?

Chase: "yeah. I'm okay. I'm good"

He can't hide his feelings from someone who's pro at hiding her feelings. I can see through it

Charli: "we're talking about this on the train alright? Right now we need to go"

He nodded

I took his hands in mine and it put a smile on his face

Charli: "let's go"

I grabbed his hand while he took all of the bags. i pulled him all the way to the bus station

Once we were almost there the bus doors just closed

Charli: "no no no no no no no!"

I pulled him and started running quicker,
I waved my hand at the bus

Charli: "WAIT"
Chase: "Charli I don't thi-"

I began running quicker and the bus stopped

Charli: "see"

Thank god.

The bus doors opened and we got inside.

Charli: "thanks"
I said to the bus driver

I put a few dollars inside the slot and we took a seat.

Charli: "well that was close"
Chase: "sure was"

He yawned and laid his head down on my shoulder
I leaned my head against his and kissed him on the top of his head

Chase: "I love you"

I smiled at the comment

Charli: "I love you too"

His eyes closed and all I could do was smile

Today is the happiest day of life and I never want it to end. 

I did it. I broke the system. After all these years of getting used and abused, I finally get my happy ending.

A few stops later we arrived at the train station

I slowly shook him awake and he opened his eyes then looked around

Chase: "wher- oh."
Charli: "we are at the train station, you ready?"

He slowly woke up and nodded

Chase: "yes"

We got off the bus and went to the front place to give in our tickets.
We bought them online a couple days ago. They weren't cheap but but nothing a few of my old pairs of shoes couldn't buy.

We walked to a seating area to wait for the train

Chase took my hand and smiled at me

Charli: "can you believe we are leaving"

Never thought I'd ever leave Cali. This has been my home forever.

Chase: "not really"
Charli: "yeah it's crazy"

I am so excited

Charli: "Thanks for keeping your promise"
I smiled

Chase: "of course. But I would have never thought of it if you didn't come up with the idea"

I always had the idea in the back of my mind, I just wasn't sure if he'd be up for it. But here we are

"Train to Boston, Massachusetts arriving in 4 minutes"

Charli: "we barley made it"
Chase: "but we did"

I leaned my head against Chases shoulder and closed my eyes

Chase: "you can sleep on the train Charli, we got time. It's a 2 day train ride. 91 hours"

Damn that's a long time. Whatever, trains are fun. I've never actually been on one before because I haven't travelled anywhere but I watched Harry Potter once and the trains looked fun.

Charli: "I'm excited for the train ride"
Chase: "you're excited for everything"

I nodded

It's true I am

Charli: "are you not?"
Chase: "of course I am"

I smiled

I'm still wondering why he was crying when he got out of his house just earlier. What happened in there?

"Train 278 to Boston is now arriving"

The smile on my face grew bigger and bigger the closer it got

The train stopped in front of us and I felt Chases hand trembling in mine

He must be as excited as I am

Charli: "let's go"

Everything is becoming real. This whole thing we planned out is happening for real. I am so close to getting everything I've ever wanted. Il get my happy ending and I'm only 17. I deserve this, I have been through hell my whole life. This is the first time I've ever felt like it was all worth it.

I stood up and pulled him but he didn't budge.

Charli: "Chase let's g-"

Then I saw it.

The look.

The look of regret. Panic. Fear. Anything but excitement.
He looked at me with his watering eyes and I knew what was coming.

I shook my head again and again

The regret in his face turned to guilt the second he laid eyes on me

Please Chase. Please stand up and walk to the train with me.

Please. Please. Please.

Chase: "I can't do this Charli"
