CHAPTER 59: THIRD ENCOUNTER
『••FLASHBACK••』
Vivian Madison's POV
It's been three years since I started to study in the bustling streets of New York. Now, life has led me back to the Philippines. This return isn't a mere response to an invitation; it's an emotional homecoming prompted by a profound yearning for this country, especially for the family whose comforting presence I left behind.
As I tread the familiar grounds of the Philippines, I can't help but reminisce about the moments I spent here, the warmth of familial ties that have lingered in my memories.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANAKKK!"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ATEEE!"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BESTIEEE!"
I had just opened the door to surprise them, pero ako ang nasurpresa dahil sa binungad nila sa'kin. They're all wearing birthday hats and each of them is holding a cake with concentrated strawberry flavor.
My entire family was here, as have four of my closest friends: Jen, Rox, Eric, and Zen.
"T-Thank you..."
Pasasalamat ko sa kanila. My real birthday is tomorrow dahil September 4 palang today, so when I asked why they were celebrating now and they just answered me na hindi na daw mece-celebrate bukas because may klase na ang kapatid ko pati si Eric at Zen.
The completion of my school transfer has been efficiently handled, and the upcoming commencement of classes is set for next week. Tatlo kaming in-enroll sa Shiniell University at agad naman din kaming pumasa doon as a third year college students, we supposed to be a second year college kaso nag-advance kami sa pag-aaral kaya third year na kami ngayon.
My birthday was joyously celebrated, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere filled with laughter, smiles, and shared moments of happiness. Masaya rin ako dahil finally, nakamove-on na rin ako sa nangyari after how many years. Even though sometimes when I missed her, nakakalungkot pa rin. Dinadalaw ko naman siya sa puntod niya, I'm missing her pero it's good to know na hindi na nag-tr-trigger ang trauma ko.
"Vivian, for you. Happy birthday." Nawala ako sa malalim na iniisip nang biglang abutan ako ng regalo ni Eric.
Malugod ko namang tinanggap 'yon at nginitian siya tipid, "Thanks, Eric."
"You're welcome, basta ikaw." Nakangiting tugon niya.
Okay?
"Ah, may gagawin ka pa ba mamaya?" Biglang dagdag na tanong niya.
"Why?" Tanong ko.
"Aayain sana kitang lumabas," Nag-aalinlangan niyang sagot at napakamot sa batok.
"Actually, I have to do something later, may pupuntahan ako," sagot ko.
"Where? Pwedeng sumama?"
"Yeah, sure. Isasama ko rin naman sila Zen mamaya." I answered plainly.
"Bakit mo pa sila isasama, kung pwedeng ako nalang haha." Biro niya, dahilan para makaramdam ako ng pagkairita pero hindi ko nalang pinahalata.
"Haha? What if ikaw nalang ang hindi ko isama?" Pagsabay ko sa biro niya ngunit may halo itong sarkasmo.
. . .
Kasalukuyan na kaming nasa byahe ngayon kasama ko ang mga kaibigan ko. Except kay Jen, dahil may aasikasuhin raw siya.
