Chapter 96

After the Doctor had performed some checks, he looked at Andy and Robert and they understood that the baby she was expecting had just gone. The Doctor who examined Andy left the room to leave the couple alone for a few minutes and Robert lay down on the bed next to his wife. They both remained silent without saying a word and she snuggled up to Robert and started to cry silently. Robert also felt that tears were very close, but at that moment he didn't want to cry, he just wanted to try to appear strong to try to console, even if a little, his wife.

Andy: "Robert.." she said in a very low whisper.

Robert: "Shhh, don't say anything"

Andy: "I.. I'm sorry"

Robert: "It's not your fault. Unfortunately these things happen" he said trying not to break down too.

Andy: "The children were so happy, they even chose a stuffed animal and now.." she said continuing to cry. "and now how are we going to tell them what happened?"

Robert: "I don't know, but we'll calmly find a way calmly" Andy nodded.

After a few minutes the Doctor came back to Andy and Robert's room and as soon as it was possible Andy and Robert went home. Emily was at their house so she could check on the twins and when she saw Andy and Robert come back and they were both sad, she didn't ask any questions and let the two of them go to their room. Andy and Robert cuddled up in bed and tried to get some rest. Robert had managed to fall asleep, but Andy hadn't, she was very nervous but eventually she fell asleep too. After a few hours Robert woke up because he heard his wife crying and moving in bed so he tried to wake her up.

Robert: "Hey, honey, wake up" he said trying to wake her up. "Hey, Andy" he said shaking her lightly to wake her up and she opened her eyes. "What's going on? Why are you crying and so upset?"

Andy: "For what happened.." she said looking into his eyes, but Robert wasn't understanding the situation.

Robert: "I don't understand"

Andy: "The baby.." she said crying. "don't you remember what happened a few hours ago?"

Robert: "I remember having dinner, we told the twins a bedtime story together and then, because we were tired, we came to bed and fell asleep"

Andy: "No, you're wrong" Robert was very confused. "Something happened, you took me to the hospital and.. and the baby is gone. We called your sister to check on Mila and Marcus"

Robert: "I don't remember anything, are you really sure?"

Andy: "Do you think it's not true?"

Robert: "Yes" he replied, pulling her to hug her and then he took the phone. "Look, it's still the middle of the night, I never called my sister and.."

Andy: "So I just had a bad dream?"

Robert: "I think so" he replied, giving her a tender kiss on the cheek. "Nothing happened and our baby is fine" he said, putting a hand on her belly.

Andy: "So it was just a really bad dream and our baby is fine" she said, confirming the situation and Robert nodded and she put her hand on top of Robert's.

Robert: "Do you feel better now?"

Andy: "Yes" she replied, smiling. "That dream was horrible" she replied, snuggling up to him.

Robert: "I can only imagine, but luckily it was just a bad dream" Andy nodded. "Do you want me to go get some water or something?" Andy shook her head.

Andy: "I just want to be here in your arms"

Robert: "Good. Now try to sleep and tomorrow we will take the day off"

Andy: "No, we can go to work"

Robert: "No. I will just say that you are not feeling well and we will spend the whole day at home with the children"
