Class 1A is on their way to a hero convention. Their method of transportation was carpooling. Everyone had buddied up to drive the long drive to the location of the big conference they would be attending to kick the week off.
Izuku had paired with his boyfriend, Todoroki.
And it turns out Todoroki was a terrible driver. A terrible driver.
He seldom used his turn signal, he swerved around in traffic, his parking was shit, he constantly slammed on the breaks.
And one problem Izuku faced going on a five hour road trip, or any road trip, was carsickness.
Izuku was prone to motion sickness.
Airplanes, boats, you name it, it made his stomach turn. He couldn't count the amount of times he'd nearly vomited on long bus rides to other training campuses, not to mention that one time he got on a VR set at a friend's house and nearly puked right into their carpet. And he felt that nausea now, especially now as Todoroki made another jerky turn.
He was sitting stiffly against the passengers seat, focusing on deep breaths. In and out. He kept his mouth stiffly shut. He felt like if he opened it he might vomit.
He thought maybe it would get better if Todoroki was a little less jerky. There was no harm in asking.
(Except spilling his stomach out his mouth)
He tested opening his mouth, and find the nausea didn't surge. Then he spoke up.
"Sho? Do you think you could take the turns a little slower?" He asked nervously.
Todoroki smiled, "like this?" He teased, jiggling the wheel a bit so the car swerved shortly side to side.
Izuku felt his stomach leap to his throat, "Sho, I am really-" he swallowed harshly, nearly gagging afterwards, "I'm really carsick."
"Oh- what?" Todoroki asked, drifting a little as he turned to look over at Izuku.
He was deathly pale, sweaty, dizzy.
Izuku coughed into his hand. He was certainly going to vomit.
"Oh no no not in the car just-" Todoroki yelped, pulling over, slamming on the breaks to try and slow their speed faster.
Finally they stopped and the car lurched forward before settling back.
Izuku stepped out of the car, standing unsteadily. It felt so amazing to be on solid ground. He leaned against the car for support as his body trembled. He hated throwing up, Todoroki hated it too, so he hid in the car.
Izuku coughed again, feeling saliva pool in his mouth as he leaned over, his breath catching as he tried to swallow back the urge to throw up.
But the swallow only made it worse.
He suddenly heaved into the grass on the side of the road. His stomach didn't feel settled at all, but it felt better than earlier.
He wiped his mouth on his sleeve and carefully climbed back into the car. Todoroki looked nervous.
Izuku shrunk into his seat, not yet closing the door, "sorry."
"Do you feel better?" Todoroki asked timidly.
"A little." He mustered, but his patience was short, "can you just drive smoother?"
"I'll try." Todoroki offered, shifting the car out of park and pulling back onto the road, a little smoother this time. But it didn't change the fact that his habit was jerky, unpredictable, and uneven. The air of the car was awkward as Izuku still felt incredibly nauseous and Todoroki was incredibly emetephobic.
