-------

Izuku was out walking a path full of Christmas lights with his friends Iida, Ochaco, and Tsu. They were all bundled up in their heavy winter clothing as snow flurries from the sky and sprinkled the ground like powdered sugar.

Izuku loved colorful lights. He loved Christmas lights, all the soft lights he'd put up in his room, fairy lights, night lights, the light section in lowes, you name it, he loved it. And so naturally, he was darting around the path a little, pointing excitedly at Christmas lights he really wanted his friends to see the way he did. The twinkle in his eyes were too bright to dim, so even though he could be a little more contained in public, they didn't bother because he wasn't hurting anybody.

At once point, he was walking next to Iida, the hugest grin on his face as he slightly shook his mitted hands and bounced up and down as he walked. He was talking and talking about one of the displays they were coming up to and the different ways it could possibly be wired to make it run the way it did, or the types of switches and timers that needed to be used to make the lights twinkle, ripple, and alternate like they did.

Iida was just smiling as he spoke, not at all annoyed as Izuku informed him of the ways the circuits on most industrial Christmas lights were wired versus the way that personal Christmas lights were.

Ochaco and Tsu were having their own quiet conversation a couple steps behind, as they didn't want to take up the whole sidewalk, and were discussing the trees fully wrapped up in Christmas lights and how beautiful they were.

Everything was going swell.

Until Izuku was stimming a bit more, and someone tapped his shoulder harshly. He turned around and slowed, "what?" He asked curiously, his smile slowly dropping as he faced a blonde woman with unkempt hair under a snow hat and a toddler, all bundled up, holding her hand on her other side.

"Excuse me." She said rudely, "but can you stop that? It's bothering my kid." She explained, glaring at him, and pointing at his flappy mitten hands.

"Oh, uhm. You could walk in front of us if you want." He said, not wanting to stop stimming. Holding it back forcefully would make him antsy and anxious and then unhappy, which he didn't want when he was surrounded by his favorite thing.

"No I don't want anyone else to have to see that." She spat.

Izuku looked confused as Iida put a hand on his shoulder protectively, "why?" He asked, his voice sadder now, less energetic.

She looked offended at the question, "you know perfectly well why." Her tone was far beyond irritated, and Izuku identified that, but he just wanted to understand why she was acting like this.

Iida spoke up now, "ma'am, please just leave my friend alone and walk in front of us."

Ochaco and Tsu had stopped behind them now and people began to look at them and pass them on the sidewalk, staring at the interaction as they walked by.

Izuku had started stimming anxiously now, shaking out his wrists just slightly and bouncing on his heels as the woman got angrier at Iida's suggestion.

"STOP THAT!" She shouted, and hit one of Izuku's hands. He felt tears seize his throat and suddenly all the lights around him were too bright and everyone was yelling.
