(summer break, Shinso is adopted, Eri is in the fam, idk we out here)It all started at the park. More specifically, the playground.
Shinso was supervising Eri as she played with some friends and his parents went on a lunch date.
The hot summer weather was never Shinso's favorite. It always gave him a headache, which sucked because he was prone to migraines and had CVS. Cyclical vomiting syndrome. Once he started feeling sick it didn't stop.
And unfortunately, the sun was getting to him. He wasn't feeling his best, but he couldn't just leave Eri at the park and go home. However, the last thing he wanted was to stay here. Or to drag her away from her friends.
But the nausea was quickly increasing. He pulled himself up off the park bench and went to drag her home.
"Hey, Eri?" He called out, seeing her fully encaptured in a make-pretend game with her friends. As sick as he felt, he couldn't just take her away from that.
"Five minutes until we have to go home, okay?" He said once he'd gotten her attention.
"Awwww, please can she stay longer??" One of her playground buddies asked, holding a stick in one hand and a pile of wood chips from the ground in the other.
Eri looked up and saw his pale face.
"I'm sorry, bud. I'm not feeling so well and I need to rest." Shinso admitted to her little friend.
"Do you need to go now?" Eri asked, knowing how badly he could get sick.
Shinso hesitated for a second, "no that's okay," he decided, "finish up. I'll come get you when it's time to go."
Eri smiled wide and ran off to finish their game.
Shinso felt increasingly nauseous, but his headache didn't really worsen. He sat back down and texted the group chat he was in with his parents, knowing they wouldn't see it until their lunch date was over.
Hitoshi: hey, taking Eri home from the park early. I think I'm having a CVS flareup. Promise you'll take her again extra this week to make up for it pls
Suprisingly, they got back to him, both communicating from Mic's phone.
Pop: oh man, do you need us to come home early? Your dad promised to take eri later this week. Is it bad?
Hitoshi: I think it might be bad. I think I'm getting a migraine, could just be the heat. Really just hoping I make it home before I throw up.
Pop: we'll be home soon
Hitoshi: love you im sorry
Pop: we love you too, no worries. You kiddos are our #1 priority.
Shinso stood up and went to grab Eri. He looked visibly unwell now.
"Hey, Eri it's time to go." He said wearily.
She turned to look and nodded, waving goodbye to her friends and grabbing onto Shinso's hand as they began to walk back home.
"Are you okay?" She asked smally. She felt a strange sense of responsibility now that her caretaker wasn't able to do as much as he normally could.
"I'm okay, Eri. Just not feeling so well." Shinso answered, "Pop and Dad are coming home, so don't worry."
Eri nodded shyly.
"Don't be nervous. I'm okay." Shinso reassured, though he wasn't so sure. They were about four blocks away still and he felt like he needed to be next to the toilet, but he couldn't bring himself to walk faster.
