(request)
(I actually learned that lupus is a specific kind of JA while researching this so fun fact)

Shout-out to the person who waited probably over a year or two (I am so incredibly sorry) for this request to be done, I see you and I wrote most of it a year ago and then never finished/posted it and then forgot about it completely 4 times.

It's genuinely been like 2 years since I got this request but y'know gotta catch em all.

Izuku always had joint pain.

Whenever he was a little kid and waking up from his daily naps, he remembered it being hard to move or play with other children or even stand up at times.

Now, this pain was just another part of life for him. It always stayed pretty normal. An ache and pain here and there, nothing unmanageable or even concerning. He never thought of it as anything unusual until the pain began to get worse.

And worse.

And even worse.

The week the pain began to get really bad started on a Monday, as most weeks begin (depending on how you look at it).

He woke up and his eyes felt puffy, his whole body was slightly sweaty, and he felt extremely stiff. It took all the motivation in him to move, and when he did it sent shooting pains through his limbs, all the aches originating at his joints.

You name it: wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, ankles. It all hurt.

He groaned out loud before forcing himself out of bed, his alarm clock serving as the main motivator. He began to think he had the flu or something, it was so much more than the usual morning stiffness than can be fixed by a nice stretch.

He quickly put a mask over his face, fearing that he'd caught some viral illness, and hobbled downstairs to find Aizawa. Every step was like an earthquake ripping into the foundations of his joints, threatening to bend and break all the screws that held him together.

"Hey Mr. Aizawa?" He asked, the mask moving around his face as he spoke and limped forward slightly. His teacher was pouring a cup of coffee.

"What?" He asked, not turning his head.

"Can you take my temperature?" He asked, his knees beginning to hurt from the weight of standing on them, he didn't even realize he was trembling.

Aizawa turned to look at him and went to feel his forehead, furrowing his brows before feeling his own, "you might be a little warm, why do you think you're sick?" He asked.

"I don't know I like- I feel fine but my whole body aches. I know that's something that can happen with the flu so I wanted to check before I went to school." He said.

Aizawa nodded and went to get the thermometer. While he was waiting, Izuku sat down at the table, rubbing his knees slightly, noticing they felt puffy.

He rolled up his pajama pants and found his knees were significantly swollen to what they normally were.

When Aizawa came back with the thermometer he cringed, "woah what did you do to your knees?"

Izuku shrugged, which also hurt, "I don't know. I woke up like that. Everything hurts." He said quietly.

Aizawa knelt down on one knee and went to poke around a little bit, causing Midoriya to wince significantly. He then noticed the boy's ankles were the same. Swollen enough to look normal, but significantly less defined.

"Do your ankles hurt too?" Aizawa asked.

Izuku avoided nodding, "yeah. My wrists really hurt too, maybe I just slept wrong?" He suggested.
