TW: vomiting
❄️❄️❄️Mirio's parents won two tickets to a week long holiday cruise that took place over Christmas break and put them out at sea on Christmas day.
Mirio was sad he wouldn't be spending Christmas with his parents, but he was growing up. There's a first time for everything, and he was really happy that his parents would get to relax on a romantic cruise together.
He was living independently now, sharing an apartment with his boyfriend Tamaki. Another plus is that he was invited to spend Christmas with the Amajiki family instead, and he was honestly really excited for this next step in their relationship. Mirio met Tamaki's family a while ago, but had never spent any extended amount of time with them like this. He was thrilled with the opportunity to grow closer to the people he hoped to (eventually) consider family.
The first two days went swimmingly. Mirio was so good with all the little Amajiki cousins. Tamaki couldn't help but smile at how well Mirio handled kids. He couldn't keep himself from imagining the two of them raising a child of their own together. There was a point he even had to excuse himself from the room because he was blushing so wildly. Mirio followed him in soon after.
"Hey, you okay?" Mirio asked.
Tamaki rolled over from his spot with his face stuffed in his pillows, "I am so attracted to you, Mirio. You don't even understand."
Togata laughed heartily, grinning genuinely before shutting the door and flopping over on the bed next to his boyfriend, placing his hand on his cheek and rubbing his thumb over his soft skin. Their faces were close. They both smiled at each other lovingly, admiring each other deeply.
Tamaki grabbed Mirio's hand on his face and leaned in to set a kiss on his lips. Tamaki was going to pull away, but Mirio pushed farther and deeper, pulling the two of them close.
They separated hesitantly when they heard the herd of Tamaki's little cousins run by their door and laughed quietly to themselves, laying together with smiles on their faces and their foreheads pressed together.

The third day is when things turned askew.
Mirio was a natural morning person, but enjoyed snuggling up with Tamaki and spooning him until he naturally woke up later in the morning anyways. It was their own peaceful time. Their routine before getting up to spend time with Tamaki's surprisingly loud family.
Today when Tamaki woke up, Mirio was not by his side. He sat up and stretched immediately, searching the room for his partner, but found no one.
He got up to use the bathroom and walked in, flipping the lights on. He jumped back when he realized someone was in there.
He settled when he realized it was his missing Mirio. He was sitting on the floor beside the toilet with his back up against the glass shower wall and he was paler than Tamaki had ever seen him.
"Can you turn the lights back off?" Mirio croaked unsteadily.
Tamaki switched them off without question, closed the door until only just a sliver of light was left to help their eyes adjust, and sat down next to Mirio, "what's wrong?"
"I think I've got a migraine. I woke up with a super bad headache, took Tylenol, it hasn't even made a dent. I am super nauseous." Mirio explained, swallowing thickly afterwards.
Tamaki could tell he was barely behind a gag and silently helped his boyfriend sit up over the toilet.
Mirio's head was pounding. With every throb his stomach hurt worse. He knew he would feel a bit better after he threw up, which was inevitable at this point. He absolutely dreaded the feeling of his dinner leaving through his mouth and making his headache roar all the while.
