Lapis POV
"Well? Go on. Attack me."
I clicked my tongue.
"We don't have time for this Muji."
My name is Lapis.
Ever since a young age, I knew I was different than other people. Specifically, my eyes made me different. While I'm not sure about most people, my eyes caused me to see the world in all black.
I could see figures, but they had no color.
I hated it until I awakened at the age of 9.
When I became nine, I started to see sound waves due to my sound affinity. The sound waves told me everything, a person emotions and feelings, their actions and habits, it even told me things they were doing before they did it.
The moment they moved, a sound wave was emitted, and I could make a move based off that.
This one thing about me was undisputedly my best asset in anything. Simple things like rock paper scissors or things like combat, I was able to stay ahead in it all.
However there was an anomaly.
That anomaly was Muji Akuma.
When I met him, he had no sound wave to him, he was like a corpse. So I went to attack him out of fun, but to my surprise he was able to stop it. However right now, something changed inside of him.
The sound waves were telling me one thing.
Run.
"Don't have time? Come now Lapis, this wolf isn't a threat."
The wolf arrived in front of us as Muji and I both jumped out of the way. Muji caught his daggers that Iris threw to him as we both faced wolf.
I was certain Muji was still in control of whatever was going on with him, so it should be safe for now.
However I had to stay on guard around Muji for once, because I wasn't certain I would win if he were to charge at me.
"Muji, can we take it ourselves?"
Muji laughed a bit.
"Why can't we? Just don't hold me back."
This version of Muji seemed a bit cocky, but I'll decide to have faith in him. We both rushed in, Muji moving way faster than I. He struck the beast, placing a scratch on his chest.
I swung my scythe, also scratching the wolf like beast. The sound waves let me know it was about to throw a punch, allowing me to dodge it in the nick of time.
Even if I seen it coming I was barely fast enough to react. Muji dashed in and swung his dagger, the wolf dodging it.
"Muji-
Muji then flipped backwards, avoiding a fatal blow from the wolf. I rushed in and swung my scythe again, the wolf blocking it and going to attack me.
Muji grabbed my armor and pulled me back, clashing attacks with the wolf. I then swung my scythe, cutting the wolf in the chest, I spun my scythe around again before slashing its stomach.
The wolf growled and kicked me in the stomach, sending me flying into a tree. I couldn't react fast enough to dodge it.
The wolf punched Muji in the stomach, causing him to cough up some blood. It then went to uppercut Muji, but I dashed in and pulled Muji back and kicked the wolf's arm.
Muji then rushed back in and stabbed it with one of his daggers, landing a massive blow. The wolf let out a roar as it jumped back, it looked like it was breathing heavily.
"Looks like my poison is finally kicking in, the bastard held on for much longer than I thought."
I looked to Muji, I forgot he had a poison affinity. It must've come in handy when fighting against things way stronger than he.
"Muji, it's on the defensive, we should finish this."
Muji nodded.
"I know."
Muji and I rushed in, both slashing the wolf's sides. The wolf growled and punched Muji into the ground, causing him to cough up blood. I went to rush in but quickly jumped to the side upon the wolf dashing over and going for a strike.
Muji grabbed the wolf from behind and bit into its neck, holding him still. I swung my scythe to cut it open, but the wolf flipped over, throwing Muji into a tree.
It then rushed over to me and punched me in the stomach, sending me in the air. The wolf jumped in the air to attack me, but I heard another sound wave.
"Apologies."
"Sorry we took so long!"
Mateo and Mari had woken up, and Shanna used a spell to help them get up into the air. The two combined their shields to block the attack were still sent into the ground by the raw power of the wolf.
I felt the sound wave of Iris's healing as the two hit the ground. I landed on the ground next to them, looking at the two's condition. It looked like Mateo had broken an arm, and Mari messed up her leg.
Iris should be able to heal them to an extent.
"Those two are pretty weak, but at least they aren't dead."
Muji walked over, the feeling I felt from him was gone.
"This is over."
The wolf hit the ground, I could tell it was dead due to sound waves no longer coming from it.
"Muji, what was that earlier?"
Muji shrugged.
"I don't know, it's only happened a few other times before. Just don't tell anyone."
"Alright but...you seriously bit him?"
"Shut up."
I nodded before letting out a yawn.
Keeping up with all these sound waves is tiring.
"I'm heading to sleep."
Muji POV
I looked down at my hands, they were shaking.
This strange power...I didn't like it.
The thoughts I had when using it, they were corrupting me.
Or were they already apart of me?
I didn't know.
All I knew was I didn't like it, and the only person who seems to calm me down is....
"I miss Mya."
