Muji POV

"Today we're going to be starting something new. Now, before you go on a hunt it is mandatory that you know about the monsters strengths and weaknesses."

We were all currently sitting at tables on the first floor. For some reason, Ms Shinmon sat next to me, and it was making me very uncomfortable.

"I'm sure most of you knew that the place where the Pre exam is held is in the Ogre's forest. In the ogre's forest, there are 4 types of monsters. The weakest one is a goblin, they're pretty easy to handle in a one on one, but together they can be a pain in the ass and they catch on fast. It's best to just speed blitz them."

Ms Shinmon took a bite of her food before swallowing it.

"Where'd you learn to cook like this Muji?"

"I Uh..."

"Doesn't matter. Back to the subject, orcs and orc chiefs are fast and strong, but that's really it. If you can dodge their blows you should be fine."

I blinked twice.

"Isn't that how it is for all fights?"

"I guess taking out their legs would help you a lot. Lastly the ogre, it has high intelligence, regeneration, strength, speed, the whole package. It's weak to fire spells since it messes with their regeneration, but if you don't have a fire mage or someone with fire spells, you pretty much have to kill it with brute force."

Mya and I both looked over to Ray, as did Adjest and Jax.

"Direct your gazes elsewhere."

"Now that I've given an example, you all need to listen up. Like I said, this is a training facility, but it's also a practice run of sorts. Every month for the next 8 months we're going to study up on a monster and then go for a hunt. This'll give you all actual experience and let you build your skills."

Some of the people here began to get scared or talk about how this would be easy. Ms Shinmon finished her food before burping a bit.

"Scuse me. Don't worry about dying, as long as you listen to me you won't die. Plus we're going on very weak monster hunts, so you shouldn't die. Shouldn't."

Ms Shinmon stood up and ruffled my hair a bit before walking off.

"The first hunt we're going to do is at the end of the month. The hunting ground is called the blood moon forest, I'll tell you more tomorrow so just enjoy the rest of your day for now."

As everyone began to do their own thing, I began to head back to my room.

"Muji! Let's go explore."

I turned around and seen Mya standing there.

"Explore what?"

"The mountains."

I rubbed my chin.

"But, you're just gonna complain halfway through.

"No I won't! Come on Muji you can't stay cooped up in here forever."

I scratched my head.

"I don't know Mya."

"You'll have cool stories to tell your siblings."

"Well I guess it can't be helped."

Mya laughed a bit as I walked back down the stairs. We headed outside and stood in front of the entrance.

"Don't tell me you're regretting it already."

"I'm not...it's just- what the hell are they doing here?!"

Jax, Adjest, and Iris were all standing a bit in the distance.

"Hey Muji! We're exploring today Huh?"

Adjest smiled and turned to Iris.

"I love the wilderness."

"Me too princess."

Mya sighed.

"I guess we're stuck babysitting again."

I laughed a bit nodded.

I felt a presence behind me as I sighed.

"What Lapis?"

Mya jumped in front of me as she looked over my shoulder and seen Lapis.

"No! Not another one! Muji you're a creep magnet!"

"Is that why you're so stuck to him?"

It got real quiet the moment Lapis said that. I could feel the anger arising from Mya.

"I'm gonna kill him!! Let me at him Muji!! I don't care what is ratio is he's gonna die!!"

"Calm down now Mya, let's go everyone."

"Ok Mr Muji!"

"Don't call me that Jax."

Timeskip

"So, the monster we'll be hunting is called the horned wolf. There are four species of horned wolf inside of the blood moon forest. They are all very distinctive from each other so listen up."

I had my pencil and paper ready, I was taking as many notes as possible. I was going to review everything right before we went off to the hunt.

"The first three look similar but you can tell if you pay attention. The small ones are the normal ones, they're built like a normal wolf and have a horn. These guys are no problem at all."

I wrote that down.

"The second ones are a bit bigger, and have two horns, being bigger means slower but more durable...most times. In this case that's what happens the bigger it gets. Lastly the third one is big as hell, maybe the size of a carriage or bigger, and it has three horns. This one is a bit intelligent so watch out for this one, do not take it on yourself unless you have too."

I finished writing everything and waited for her to continue.

"Lastly, there's a humanoid type of monster. It's body is built like a human's but it's head is that of a wolf. These things are beyond dangerous, and you should only fight these if you're party is with you. Don't even think about fighting it yourself. Hell, don't fight it even if you have a party."

Ms Shinmon glared at Jax, who was sitting right next to me.

"I would never Ms Shinmon."

"Sure."

Ms Shinmon let out a sigh, seeing everyone a bit scared.

"You all need to understand, this job will have you constantly putting your life on the line. There is no safe part to being a hunter. I told you guys these were weak monster hunts, but in reality I expect you all to struggle a lot. Most of you barely meet the status quo for an adult hunter. While some of you are gifted and even pass that, it doesn't mean this will be a cake walk. I'm not saying to not be scared, but I'm saying don't expect this to be easy. Got it?"

"Yes mam!"

"Good. Tomorrow we'll head out to the ogre forest. I'll have you all break up into groups, and from there you'll start practicing party formations. You'll also switch out the people you work with every day so that case no matter who I group you with you'll know what to do."

I raised my hand, causing her to look over to me.

"There are only 17 of us, how will we work in a group?"

Ms Shinmon smirked at me.

"A party leader has to participate too right? Naturally I'll be joining you all."
