Muji POV
After getting smacked by Mya about a week ago, she had told me the situation. We were in some forest filled with monsters, like I had assumed, and the only monster she had seen so far was goblins.
Little green creatures.
The guy who I accidentally killed in my moment of rage was named Bryan. He apparently helped her fight the goblins, but it looked like forcing himself on her was his true intention the whole time.
I had killed four people so far.
I hated it.
I didn't hate the fact I killed them.
I hated the fact I didn't feel bad for doing it.
I needed some time to clear my thoughts, but time wasn't what I had right now. I had to keep moving along with Mya in order to survive this hellish exam.
Right now, Mya and I were currently eating some berries I found. I was able to remove the poison from them using my mana, making them edible.
"You know, these berries are actually pretty good!"
I chuckled a bit.
"Yeah, when they aren't poisonous."
"Shut up."
I don't know what happened, but Mya seems different. Something about her changed, for the better, while I was unconscious.
"Hey, what are you staring at?"
"Nothing."
Mya smirked.
"Oh I get it. You're just dumbfounded by how I can look beautiful even when all banged up."
"Oh don't get full of yourself. I've seen withered flowers better looking than you."
Mya began to yell at me as I laughed and dodged her attacks.
"Alright enough joking, we need to move."
Mya nodded as we began to move. As we walked through the forest, we encountered lots of other people.
Some were friendly enough to leave us alone, and others...not so much. We managed to avoid killing anyone else by just knocking them out.
Just like that two more days in this hellish forest had passed.
"Eww...this is disgusting."
Mya and I were walking through a field of corpses. There were many of them.
"They must've got ambushed by some monster."
"You don't think goblins did this right?"
I inspected the corpses.
"No...these people didn't die from cuts, more like brute force or a heavy pressure."
Mya hummed, causing me to look over to her.
"What is it?"
"I have a spell that can tell us the location of everything within a certain radius, but it'll tell people and monsters where we are."
I rubbed my chin.
"Don't use it yet, it's too risky for- wait I can hear something."
I heard footsteps, they were only those of one person, but they were big, heavy even. Almost as if the source was something huge.
"M-Muji...I think I know why..."
I stood up next to Mya and looked in the same direction, I felt shivers down my spine.
There was a giant goblin with a wooden club staring right at us, and it's red eyes said it wanted blood.
"Mya come on!!"
I picked up Mya and began to run as the giant goblin roared and chased us. I was a bit faster than it, but due to its large size and the fact I was carrying Mya it was easily able to catch up.
It went in for an attack, causing me to toss Mya aside and block it using my aura. I was sent flying into a tree as I coughed up a bit of blood before standing up.
"What...what is that thing!?"
"Muji shut your eyes!"
I did as Mya said and shut my eyes, right after a blinding light covered the area. I felt someone grab me and lead me away from the giant goblin, but I knew it was Mya since I felt her presence.
"Muji you can open up now."
I slowly opened my eyes to find us behind a tree of sorts, the giant goblin a bit in the distance.
"You're an assassin, fighting that thing head on isn't your style."
I nodded.
"Yeah. I'll use some strong poison, so buff my speed."
Mya raised an eyebrow.
"Your speed? Why not your strength? I can't buff both so you should really be stronger."
I shook my head.
"I'm not taking him head on so there's no reason to buff my strength."
"Then maybe your defense? If you get hit then-
"Can't hit something if it's too fast."
Mya let out a sigh.
"Fine whatever. What do you want me to do?"
"Blind it again after you buff my speed."
Mya nodded and shut her eyes before placing her hand on my shoulder. A small beam of light shined down upon me, and after it vanished I felt faster.
"Alright then, ready?"
Mya nodded before I dashed out at the giant goblin. Mya casted the spell like we planned as the giant goblin became unable to see, flailing its weapon around like an idiot.
I coated my daggers in poison and used my aura, increasing my speed and strength even further as I cut the back of its foot, leaving a deep cut.
It let out some type of pained yell and continued to try and attack me, but I just dashed around it and cut its body all over.
I cut the back of its knee cap, causing it to fall forward and land on its knee. I jumped onto its back and dug my daggers into its neck before dragging them deeply across its skin.
The giant goblin let out a scream, it was in pain.
Strangely...I didn't want to stop.
It reached for me, but I dodged it and stabbed it's hand, causing it to retract. I jumped over it and landed at the front before jumping and stabbing it in the chest.
The giant goblin let out one last scream, knowing it's end was near.
"It's over."
I sent poison throughout the giant beast's body as it's veins began to bulge up before it eventually exploded.
Covered in blood, I landed on the ground and picked up both of my daggers.
"Muji! Are you alright?!"
Mya ran over and wiped some blood off of my face. I nodded as I just stood there, listening to her ramble.
I quickly got lost in my thoughts, drowning out everything around me.
"Am I wrong for not feeling bad about what I did?"
I didn't know the answer, I didn't know how to think or feel about what I just did.
But there was something in me telling me that it was right.
"Must be moms dna."
After all, even without magic, my mom was a witch.
