Alana POV
"I hope those brats didn't die yet."
I was currently heading towards the location of the wolves. I deemed it best to go at it alone because if I brought those greenhorns they would just hold me back.
My rank as a hunter is Gold.
The ranks are split in 5, with Copper being the lowest and Platinum being the highest. Your rank is assigned by the countries capital, and it is based on your level of mana or aura.
Level 5-6 is Copper.
Level 7-8 is Bronze.
Level 9-12 is Silver.
Level 13-15 is Gold.
And anything beyond that is Platinum, that's because the gap shoots up astronomically. Those below energy level 15 can't even hope to compete with those above it.
I was lucky enough to become a gold hunter, despite being from a commoner family.
Being a gold rank hunter, this wolf hunt should be nothing to me. The wolves here were supposed to be assigned to Copper rank hunters, but we took over it instead.
"Although, the wolves are a bit tougher for some reason...doesn't matter. I'll just kick their asses and get back to my pups."
I came to a stop when I reached my targeted area, looking around.
"I'm sure this is where they are...so why the hell don't I see any wolves."
I looked around, noticing claw marks on the trees.
"It can't be..."
I used my aura to infuse my strength before jumping, going through the leaves of the red trees. Upon breaking through what seemed like a barrier, I came in contact with a large group of wolves.
"Shit that's a lot of wolves. How many even is that?!"
I landed on the tree top, to my surprise it was relatively easy to stand on them. The endless trees ended up being like a platform of sorts.
"The wolves shouldn't have been smart enough to know about this, someone definitely lead them up here. The only question is who..."
"I'm quite surprised you managed to find us."
From inside the army of wolves, a werewolf crawled out and stood before me. It was the looked size as the other ones, but the more noticeable difference was it's red fur.
"It's Red...what's up with this thing? It's probably that so called Alpha."
"So, have you come to face us alone? I'm sure that those children you left behind will be quite defenseless."
I took a battle position and pulled out my weapon. It was two long metal gloves of sorts, with four sharp blades on the knuckle parts of it. My left glove had long blades whilst the other had short ones.
"Shut up, mutt. I'm gonna scorch you all until there's nothing left."
I released my mana and aura at the same time, imbuing my weapons with them. I rushed towards the group and began tearing them to shreds, a trail of flames following me wherever I went.
As I tore through the group of wolves, I noticed the Red one had vanished.
"Bastard."
I took off after him, leaving the already injured wolves there to burn or die from blood loss. The red wolf moved very quickly, but it was far slower than me, so I easily caught up.
I went to strike it with my long blades but it jumped out the way, causing me to miss.
"Where did you think you were going?"
The red werewolf just stood there silently.
"What's it doing?"
"It seems I have no way of escape. Very well, even if I die here, those children will lose there lives!"
"Those kids are more than tough enough to handle a few of your lackeys."
The werewolf began to laugh before it rushed at me, throwing a punch. I deflected the blow and sent one back, my short blades piercing his skin a bit.
The wolf, to my surprise, took the pain and punched me in the stomach, doing more damage than I thought it could.
"What's up with this werwolf? It's a lot stronger than the other ones."
The werewolf then raised its arm and threw me back into a tree. I quickly ducked as it threw a punch at me once more, hitting the tree instead.
I used my hands to hold me up as I kicked the back of the wolf's leg, causing it to fall to its knees. I then slammed my foot onto the back of its neck and slammed it into the ground, the ground beneath me shaking a bit.
I coated my weapon in flames once more as I jumped over to the werewolf, going to attack, but it was gone.
"Got you."
It shoved its hand through my chest as I coughed up blood.
"No."
I smirked and faded away, coming from behind and shoving my weapon through its chest.
"I've got you."
The werewolf raised it's arm and elbowed me in the face, blood flying from my nose and mouth. It dashed forward and landed on the tree before jumping off of it and kicking me while I was still stunned.
I bit the inside of my mouth to help regain my focus as I dodged another attack from the wolf. I punched it's side with my right hand before blocking an attack with my left.
"Burn in hell."
I activated a spell that set my body on fire, and by default the wolf was set on fire as well. I pushed its body off of me and began to walk off.
"I need to get back to-
My instincts went haywire as I quickly flipped and kicked something that was about to attack me.
"Where do you think you're going?! We aren't done human!"
I looked in shock, it was still moving even while being burnt.
"I didn't use too much power because I didn't want to burn the forest down, but what the hell...a normal werewolf would've been dead."
I swallowed a nervous gulp.
"I know you're the alpha...but this is insane. How are you still alive?"
The wolf began to laugh.
"Did you think I was the alpha? Sorry but the alpha isn't here."
I raised an eyebrow.
"If this guy isn't the alpha then...where could it-
It then hit me.
"Bastard!!"
I powered up as I rushed at the werwolf and clawed it's neck open with my left hand. I grabbed it's head with my right and ripped it off, tossing it to the side and dashing off.
"Muji, please...keep everyone safe!!"
Elsewhere
I was breathing heavily as I brought my arms up once again.
"You can still fight? Interesting."
I looked around me, my comrades were all on out of the fight. The large crimson colored werewolf stood above me, staring down with a humored look on its face.
"We're...going to die..."
