Muji POV
"Alright, here are the groupings for this training session."
I listened for my name, unfortunately I wasn't paired alongside anyone I was close to. I think she purposely did this to get me to acquaint myself amongst the others here.
I was a bit worried about Mya, but she was in the same group as Jax and Iris, so I think she'll be fine.
"So um...I'm Muji. It's nice to meet you all."
I looked at my team.
Ms Shinmon also put me as party leader, so now I had to make small talk.
"Yo. I'm Mari."
I remember her because she looked unique, she was a guardian with a stone type affinity.
"I-Im Sky."
The other girl was small. I think she was a mage.
"I'm Shanna."
I nodded.
"Your eyes are very...unique."
"Thank you."
I turned to the other two.
"Names?"
The one with blue hair and blue eye smirked.
"I am Zeke Maxer! I am destined to be the-
"Alright cool, and you?"
Zeke looked at me with hateful eyes, but I just ignored him.
"Lacas."
I nodded and asked about their class. After confirming everything I looked down at the paper of formations she gave us.
"So we have one assassin, two mages, a guardian, a healer, and a knight. The easiest formation for us to form is C2. The mages and the healer will stand behind the guardian while the knight rushes in and the assassin comes from behind. Very simple right?"
Mari nodded as she grabbed the shield Ms Shinmon gave her.
"So, I just have to protect these guys right?"
I nodded.
"While you're protecting them, the mages will cast a spell. Shanna, do you have a spell that can hold things still?"
She nodded.
"Since I'm a gravity mage I can increase their weight, making them unable to move."
I nodded and turned to Sky.
"Do you have something to block vision or at least confuse enemies?"
She nodded.
"I-I have a mist spell t-that can do both."
"Great, use it if they can still move or things go south."
"A-Alright."
I turned to Lacas.
"You're on standby until someone gets hurt, tell them to pull back if it's looking too bad so you can heal them."
"Yeah."
I turned to Zeke.
"Your role is pivotal. You have to manage to draw the attention of the enemies while also taking no damage and holding them there long enough for me to get around them. Which shouldn't take long..."
I looked at Zeke, he seemed pretty happy.
"My importance is being recognized. I won't let you down party leader Muji."
I nodded.
"Yeah, sure."
I made sure everyone had their weapons before we all went into the forest. As we walked I continued to look out for any enemies.
"There's nothing here."
"W-What if we get ambushed?"
"Calm down Sky, the party leader wouldn't let that happen."
As the group continued to talk I suddenly sensed something. I held my arm up, causing them all to shut up.
"Guys. There's a group of them up ahead, about 7 of them."
I closed my eyes and listened carefully, the footsteps were heavy.
"Looks like they're orcs."
Sky looked a bit scared.
"W-We'll be ok right?"
I nodded.
"Just stick to the plan."
As the orcs approached us I drew my two daggers.
"Everyone; get into formation C2."
Shanna, Sky, and Lacas all fell behind Mari as she put up her shield, aura coating around it.
I looked back to Shanna and Sky.
"You know what to do, don't worry and let Mari protect you."
"O-Ok Muji!"
"Got it, I understand."
I turned to Zeke.
"Let's go Zeke."
"Yeah!"
The orcs rushed at us and headed straight for the mages in the back, before attacking. However Mari blocked the attack, wincing a bit.
Zeke cut the orcs leg off before and pierced it through the chest. I rushed to the back of the group of orcs and jumped on one before decapitating it with a sharp movement of my daggers.
"Five left."
"My spell is ready Muji! I'm casting it now!"
A purple hexagon formed above the orcs as they suddenly hit the ground, unable to move anymore.
I increased my aura out put and rushed in, Zeke rushing from the other side. We easily defeated the remaining orcs without anyone taking damage.
"Good job everyone. This time we had it easy, but if we face larger numbers we may have to try harder. Sky, Lacas, don't let your guard down just because you didn't have to do anything this time."
"O-Ok."
"Yeah."
Mari POV
I was currently laying in my room after getting back from the ogres forest.
I didn't really care about anyone else at this place except my brother. I had no plans to make friends with others, but that changed today.
Muji was way different than I had expected.
Not only did he have great leadership, he was nice but strict. He had great senses and judgement and knew what to do and say.
He was strong, but even faster, and put himself before other people even if he went on about not risking your life.
He was an amazing strategist, analyst, and he was over all just a good person.
Or in short.
"Hey."
"Oh, hey Mari."
He was pretty damn cool.
I had left my room and seen Muji in the hallway.
"Whatcha doin?"
"Nothing, about to go exercise."
I hummed.
"Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all."
I smiled a bit and followed after him.
I felt like this would be the start of a good friendship.
