Alana POV
Fortunately, all the brats had survived. Adjest showed up and with the help of her party we were able to pull through without anyone dying.
Just barely.
I took down two werewolves and it seems Jax and Lapis took down one, and Adjest and Mya got the other. However what concerns me is the fact they were speaking about some "Alpha."
I've been a hunter for 12 years, and I haven't heard that term once during my time. We were in no condition to fight another strong enemy, 99% of the party members couldn't fight anymore.
"We only need to last two more days everyone. Healers, make sure everyone is healed up asap. We can't afford another enemy ambush."
"Yes mam!"
As everyone slowly recovered and took a break, I walked around checking up on those who really took damage.
"Jax, how're you holding up?"
Jax laughed a bit.
"That werwolf was something serious, we only managed to win because you damaged it before fighting the other two."
I nodded.
"Well you're alive and that's all that matters. What about Lapis?"
Lapis was fast asleep again, I wondered why he always went to sleep.
"He's ok I guess. He put in a lot of work, so he deserves that rest."
I hummed.
"Well that's acceptable I guess."
"What about Muji and Mya? They're the only two unconscious."
I sighed.
"You'll have to ask the princess for details, but it looks like Muji was blindsided and Mya passed out after helping Adjest take it down."
Jax scratched the back of his head.
"Something wrong?"
"Nah...it's fine."
Timeskip
"Ms Shinmon."
I looked over, Muji had woken up.
"Good to see you alive kiddo. How's your wounds?"
He sighed.
"They hurt like crazy. Iris probably healed me up but I'm still sore all over."
I laughed a bit.
"Well if healers fixed everything they would be extremely rare."
"Indeed."
Muji cleared his throat before looking up at me.
"Ms Shinmon, I have a request to ask of you."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Why so formal?"
"Because this is important to me."
I sighed.
"Alright then, what is it?"
"Ever since becoming a hunter trainee...no, even before that, I keep on coming up short and having to rely on other people. I...I want to be stronger."
I listened carefully.
"I'm not saying it's bad to rely on others or have comrades...I just...I don't want to be dependent. I don't want to have other people risking their lives because I failed. So please...help me get stronger."
