Muji POV
A small knock on the door caused me to wake up. I didn't want to get up but I knew that whoever it was wouldn't leave since they were probably here on Mr Nate's orders.
It was pretty early to be asleep, but with all the things Mya had me doing I was tired.
"Karin, see who's at the door."
"Ok Muji!"
Karin walked over and opened the door before stepping aside. Mya walked into the room humming, making everyone look at her.
She had a cover and a pillow in her arms and a wide smile on her face.
"Mya, what do you want?"
Mya laughed mischievously.
"A sleepover! I heard that's what friends do, so here I am. Hey guys! I'm Mya."
"I'm Kaia!"
"I'm Kyle!"
"I'm Daiki!"
"I'm Karin, hi."
Mya spoke with everyone before running over to my bed and climbing in. It was definitely big enough to hold two people, so I didn't have a problem with it.
"So Muji, shall we commence the conversing of scary stories?"
But now she was just messing with me.
"Mya I don't want to. I'm tired, you've been working me a lot."
Mya pouted.
"Sorry."
Me and Mya looked at each other.
I don't know what it was but something made me nervous.
"Good night."
I turned over and threw the cover over my head.
"No! You can't go to sleep before me. It's against the sacred sleepover rules."
"Screw the rules."
Timeskip
"Welcome again, Young Lady, Muji."
I bowed my head and sat down after Mya as we began todays lesson. I was reluctant to attend these lessons at first, but it's actually teaching me a lot.
If I manage to become a successful hunter, we won't have to rely on Mr Nate anymore, and my siblings can have carefree lives.
I want that more than anything.
"Today we're going to talk about Elemental affinity and how it affects those with high mana."
I held my pencil in hand, ready to write notes. I plan to teach Karin when she's eleven so it'll give her time to think about it.
If she wants to become a hunter.
"People with high mana usually become a Mage, Supporter, or a Healer. Your elemental affinity also plays a big part on which role you take. There are 4 common types of elemental affinities, those being fire, water, earth, and wind. The other affinities are also common, but not as common as these four. There are also very rare and never heard of affinities."
I wrote that down as Moira continued to speak.
"Mages usually have a destructive affinity, so most people with fire affinity become a mage. Water is much rather a healer affinity, and earth is a support affinity. Wind is a balance of all three, but due to that it's also less efficient at each."
It was amazing how balanced everything seemed to be. I can't believe I had never heard of such a thing before.
"However this only applies to those with high mana. You can have a fire affinity and low mana, so you'll end up one of the physical combat roles."
Mya laughed confidently.
"My family is from a long line of mages! I'll definitely have great mana."
I hummed.
"I don't really care, but I'd prefer to have more aura than mana."
"Boring! Boys always want to fight with their hands."
"Shush. Back to learning."
Me and Mya looked at each other before looking back to Moira.
"Now we'll talk about how your mana and aura are measured. The power scales from number 0-20, 0 being you have none and 20 being the peak measurement of power. For a child who's first awakened 1 is the normal standard. Anything beyond that the child may be considered gifted."
I had to write that down, this would help me measure myself in the future.
"At the age of 15, the normal power is 3-4, and at the age of an adult the normal power is 5-6. I keep using the word normal, because in this world talent and gifted people exist. The strongest hunter in the world right now is a knight named Slick Juls with a time affinity, his aura to mana ratio is 20:18. He's also the King of our country."
A/N: (Aura is always first in the ratio)
Me and Mya both let out a loud gasp simultaneously.
"Then he's like, super strong!!"
"Exactly. He's not the normal man to achieve such power, and at the ripe of age 40. You two may be gifted as well, but I severely doubt it."
Mya grew irritated at Moira's smart remark.
"What does that mean huh?!"
"All the people who are gifted end up from a royal family or a family of nobility. Muji is a commoner, and you, young lady are a small Duke family."
I hummed.
"Do I have to be from a special family to become strong?"
"No, but it's highly unlikely that you will. The Lord of the mansion is 68 years old, and he only has a Mana level of six."
Mya slammed her head onto the table, causing me to laugh a bit.
"I see...but won't I still make money just for being a hunter?"
"That has to do with your rank, but we'll discuss that next time. Class dismissed."
Moira walked out the room while I just stayed there alongside Mya, who wouldn't move.
"I'm doomed to be a low class mage forever..."
I sighed and grabbed Mya's hand before dragging her along.
"Come on Mya. If we're gonna be low classes at least we'll be together."
Mya let out a groan.
"I guess."
