Nate POV
"I read in a book that you shouldn't follow creepy men to their homes."
I almost burst out laughing.
"I promise I'm not a creepy old man."
"You barged into our home and began to beat me up. That's creepy."
I sighed.
"And I'm sorry for that, but you attacked me first. You also stole from me."
"Why do you want us to come with you anyway?"
I rubbed my beard.
"I don't know. I just can't stand to see you all in this condition. I know that you've been trying your hardest to make sure you all get by. The fact that you've managed to survive this long alone is a feat, even while your mother was here. It may not mean much, but I'm proud of you young man."
Muji looked down at the ground.
"I....thank you."
"If you come with me, your siblings will be able to eat and have the best clothes ever. I may not look like it, but I have a lot of money."
He looked at me weird.
"But...you only had 20 bronze."
"That was all I needed."
Muji rubbed her head.
"You promise me that you won't do anything sketchy?"
"I swear on my granddaughter."
Muji let out a sigh.
"Ok, fine. I'll go talk to everyone else and stuff."
"Alright. I'm going to send a letter to someone, they'll have a carriage here for all your stuff in a few days. In the meantime, stop stealing and start packing."
Muji scratched his head.
"But...how will we get food for the next few days?"
"I'll get it."
Muji didn't seem to trust me, the look on his face and the gleam in his eyes said it all.
"Ok."
But that was all he said.
He walked into the back room, all I could hear was a collection of cries and "Muji"s. I smiled and stood up before walking out of the house.
Muji POV
I didn't trust that old man.
I think he said his name was Mr Nate?
All in all he seemed pretty nice, and his words and smile weren't venomous like moms, but after what just happened I didn't know if I could really trust him or not.
My plan was to take a trial run of sorts, and see if things were good. If they were then we would stay, if not, rob him and leave.
I really hoped that they were however, because it sounded really nice. Also if we did rob him and leave he'd probably just find us and beat me up again.
"Muji, are we really gonna go with that mean grandpa?"
Karin had already accepted my decision, but Daiki was still a bit afraid.
"Yea, he might not be a mean grandpa, but a really nice one instead."
"Nice people don't beat up people."
I ruffled Daiki's hair with a smile.
"Well he said sorry right? Let's just go with him for now, ok?"
Daiki nodded as he went to go begin packing his clothes. Karin was helping Kaia and Kyle with their clothes, and I started to pack mine as well.
Like he had promised, the old man brought food for us the next day. Wondrous dishes I had never even seen before.
"Woah!"
"It looks so good!"
"Can we eat Muji?"
I looked at them and nodded slowly as they began to dig in. Me and Karin just sat there a bit confused and nervous to eat it.
"Is this really ok Muji? I don't trust that old guy."
I didn't know what to say.
"I think so..."
I slowly took a bit of the weird looking white chunky stuff. It was fluffy and tasted amazing but I didn't know what it was.
"It's good..."
Karin took a bite as well, letting out a small moan.
"It really is good. What about this one Muji, you try it first."
I nodded and picked at the other part. It was some type of soup with meat and other stuff in it.
After taking a bite, I hummed.
"It's good too."
"Alright."
Timeskip
"What's that thing?"
"Muji look!"
"Look Muji!"
"Muji!"
I could understand the shock from my siblings. In front of our small run down house was an actual carriage. I had only seen them inside of books.
Mr Nate stepped out of the carriage, surprising us all.
"I told you I'd have a carriage here soon."
"Y-Yeah but..."
Kyle and Kaia grabbed my pants legs, causing me to look down.
"What is it?"
"Can we ride it Muji?"
"Pretty please!"
I looked over to Mr Nate, getting a nod.
"Yeah..."
The two let out gasps and rushed to the carriage before climbing in. I turned to Karin and nodded, causing her to grab Daiki's hand and walk over to the carriage.
I grabbed all of our bags and loaded them onto the carriage with the help of Mr Nate before sitting in the carriage myself.
"Is this everything?"
I nodded as Mr Nate shut the carriage door.
"To the estate."
"Yes sir."
As the carriage moved, we all observed the scenery before our eyes. Moving out of the small village we lived in and watching the world around us was really interesting and enchanting for us.
Karin, Daiki, and the twins had never even left the house. I had only been to the market and around peoples houses, so we had never really seen the world.
The carriage finally came to a stop after moving for about half an hour. We all looked out the window, letting out a gasp of surprise.
A very large house could be seen through the window of the carriage.
"Welcome, children, to the Leona Esate."
