MID-AFTERNOON
MARIE
I lay down in the seat that Misa had buckled me to. I had no idea what she was going to do next. I could tell she was still with me since I could feel her breath on me. I waited patiently for Misa to do what she wanted to do next. As of now, she just sat there right in front of me. I wanted to speak, but I knew she would yell at me and tell me to shut up. Was I going to get out of this alive?
I was sure I was right, and Misa would let me go. I had no idea what Misa was doing. Especially since she had placed a blindfold over my eyes. I couldn't see her, but she was still right in front of me.
What are you doing, Misa? Please, you have no reason to keep me here after I promised you that I wouldn't tell anyone our secret. Please let me go. I thought.
I heard the sound of something flipping open. "Mmph," I let out quietly once I recognized that sound. It sounded like my Razr when it was flipped open. Hold up! Why would Misa flip open my Razr? And what kind of reason would she be using it for?
Suddenly, I heard a familiar sound that sounded like the startup of my Razr if I had turned it off. This proves it! Misa had my cellphone.
"Wow," she let out. "You must come from a rich family, don't you?"
I shook my head. "Mmm-mmm," I answered through my gag. "Then how can you afford the Motorola Razr V3?" she asked. "Did your mommy and daddy buy it for you?"
I shook my head. "Mmm-mmm," I answered in a firmer way through my gag.
"Oh," Misa let out. "Did you steal it?"
"Mmm-mmm!" I answered through my gag again in a more panicked tone. "Mmm-mmm!" I heard Misa growl before I felt her rip the tape off in the same manner as she did last time. I groaned in pain once she removed the tape from my mouth. "
Misa, please," I begged. "Couldn't you be a little gentler with the tape?"
"I would," Misa answered. "But no. I don't think I want to. Now, tell me how you got the Motorola Razr."
I lay there, breathing heavily for a little bit.
"It was a Christmas Gift," I answered. "John gave it to me for Christmas. He bought it for me with the money his dad gave him so he could buy an engagement ring for his ex-girlfriend, Destiny."
"Ha!" Misa laughed. "And again with all of that stuff with your precious John. You know, one thing different about our situations is that my true love is dead, and yours..."
Misa scoffed. "How am I supposed to know if it was love or not?" she asked. "I never even met John!"
I steadied my breathing. "Good to hear you say that rather than to take Destiny's side," I told Misa. "I already know the story," Misa told me rudely. "How can I ever believe a girl who was chosen as a bride for John from Stewart?"
I gasped once I heard this. Wait... John's father...was behind this? Did he even love his son? I thought.
"What?" I asked. "Is that true?"
I couldn't believe it. It had to be a cruel joke. I couldn't believe Mr. Michaels would do something like that to John. Did he even love John after his wife died?
John told me that his father was always a stern one like my dad, but he got really possessive and controlling over John ever since Mrs. Michaels died. I never met John's dad face to face, but I also wish I could have met him. Except he hates me. Mr. Michaels doesn't even know me, and neither does he want to. My parents were the same way towards John, but they would never do anything Mr. Michaels did to his own son. I often wondered what Mrs. Michaels would think.
