AROUND 12:20 PM

TOKYO, JAPAN

                                                                    MARIE

Hours later, at lunch, I had two slices of pizza with a chocolate cake and a bag of potato chips. The drink I had with it was a Strawberry Fanta, just so y'all know.

"Hey, Misa Misa wannabe," I heard a voice say. I looked up and found Saiko holding Geffrey's arms with a big smirk on her face. "Enjoy your lonely meal without your precious Light Yagami."

Geffrey laughed. "Nice one, baby," he commented. "Let's not bother with sitting with her, baby. Just give her time to throw herself off the balcony like the real Misa Misa did. But you can have this apple."

Geffrey gave me the apple before he and his girlfriend both turned around and went back to their table laughing. I picked up my first slice of pizza and was about to eat it when I heard a guy say, "Don't worry, Marie."

I looked up and saw Vincent and his lady friend place their trays of food across from me. "We'll sit with you," he continued before he and his friend sat down.

I smiled once I saw him. "Vincent," I said. "This is quite the surprise."

"Well," Vincent began. "When we saw the way that Geffrey and Saiko treated you, we felt really bad and decided that it would be a great idea to sit with you the next day...which is today."

"Hi," said his lady friend. "I'm Kyrie. I'm Vincent's friend. It's spelled K-Y-R-I-E and sounds like Keri, but it's pronounced Kairi."

She held out her hand, and I shook it for about two seconds before placing her hand down.

"We actually have the same first-period class together," Kyrie continued. "I can't stand Geffrey...or Saiko." Kyrie picked up her sushi roll from her plate with pink chopsticks. "

They are even worse than the bullies from my old school back in South Korea," she told me right before taking a bite from her sushi roll. After she finished her sushi roll, she picked up another sushi roll with her chopsticks and tried to offer it to me.

"Here, do you want one?" she asked. I shook my head and politely declined. "No thanks," I answered, shaking my head. "I can't eat that. I'm allergic to fish. Last time I had it, things didn't go so well."

Kyrie made a disgusted look on her face for a few seconds. "Eck," she commented. "I'm so sorry about that. Also, I shouldn't be doing much with chopsticks since this is Japan."

Kyrie pulled the sushi roll away from me and ate it. Once she was done eating it, she put down her chopsticks and tried to start a conversation with me.

"You know," she said. "Vincent doesn't like sushi either, except he's not allergic to it."

Vincent turned and looked at Kyrie. "I don't like any kind of fish," he said darkly, as Vincent Valentine would say. "Whether it's fried, grilled, or sushi, it just doesn't taste right in my mouth. I prefer chicken."

We continued to eat our meals in peace, and for a few minutes, we didn't bother talking to each other until a very familiar face showed up. However, it wasn't Mr. Mikami, but Ms. Hirota.

"Ah," she said right when she saw us.

Vincent and Kyrie turned in their seats so they could see who said that. I, on the other hand, just looked up and saw her standing there.

"Hello, Marie," she said. "Hello, Vincent and Kyrie."

"Hello, Ms. Hirota," Vincent and Kyrie said at the same time. "I'm so sorry that Mr. Mikami couldn't be here to see this, but I promise that I will tell him after lunch," she told us. "Now, I just need to find a place to sit down and enjoy my sushi rolls."
