Death Note: The Next Kira (Part One)

Post-Chapter Twenty-Four (Part One): Interrogation

JANUARY 24, 2006

AROUND 9:45 AM 

TOKYO, JAPAN 

                                                                              MARIE 

I was sitting in the Task Force building with Mr. Mikami, Ms. Hirota, Mr. Yamamoto, Ms. Seraphim, Vincent, Kyrie, Mei, Jirou, Alissa, Osuke, Hailey, Daemon, Halle, Near, Geffrey, Saiko, and their friends. We all sat there in complete silence as we tried to process what happened to the school. I was really surprised that my vision after all this time came true. All this time I was hoping that it wouldn't come true, but it did. I looked up at Geffrey, Saiko, their friends, and Mr. Yamamoto's faces. They looked at me like I was some evil person with those angry looks on their faces. They must really think that I'm Kira. My God, I have to be careful because if I'm not, they'll find out that I'm the new Kira. However, the fact is that I would never hurt anybody who isn't truly evil..., but that's what Light did at first before he got corrupted by power and started killing innocent people too. Thankfully, I practice witchcraft so the chances of me getting corrupted by power have to be very low. I hope that they are, but still...I thought to myself. 

I then looked at Mr. Mikami, Ms. Hirota, Ms. Seraphim, Halle, Near, and all of my friends. They were still pretty shaken up. Even if they took one glance at me, they would still give me the same look that they did when they saw the school collapse. "Why are you all looking at me like I caused this?" I asked. Everybody stayed silent for a moment and didn't respond. "If you guys think that I caused this..," I began. Mr. Yamamoto quickly got out of his seat out of anger and pointed his finger at me. "We didn't ask you to speak, Anna!" he commanded in a mean way as he pointed his finger at me. "I have every reason to believe that you've caused this! And because of that, I now know that you are the new Kira!" He tried to charge at me, but Mr. Mikami got in the way. "She's not the new Kira and you know it!" he shouted at Mr. Yamamoto. "Marie would never cause such a thing to happen and she would never murder somebody just because she wanted to!" Mr. Yamamoto tried to say something after Mr. Mikami was finished. "Don't speak!" Mr. Mikami commanded him. Mr. Mikami acted like he was going to tackle Mr. Yamamoto again, but was stopped by two police officers. 

"Hey!" one of them shouted as the other one ran with him to stop Mr. Mikami and Mr. Yamamoto from fighting. "Itsuki, that's the last time I'll ever let you say stuff about Marie again!" he exclaimed. "Say anything negative about Marie again, AND YOU ARE FIRED!" "Hey, stop it!" the male police officer said. He pulled Mr. Yamamoto away as the female police officer that was with him pulled Mr. Mikami away. They were still trying to break free so that they could fight, but the two officers wouldn't allow it. "That's enough!" the female officer said. "If you two don't stop right now, we'll have no choice but to lock the both of you up!" This was enough to stop the two from fighting. After Mr. Mikami and Mr. Yamamoto sat back down, the two police officers headed straight to me. "Are you Anna Monroe?" the male police officer asked. I looked up and nodded without saying anything. "Well, Anna," he continued. "I am Officer Ide." He turned and looked at the female police officer. "And this is my sister, Sanami," Officer Ide continued. Officer Sanami smiled and bowed at me and I slightly bowed back at her. "Anyway," Officer Ide continued. "Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa would like to talk to you for a moment." After he said that, I started to feel a little nervous. "Am I in trouble?" he asked. "No," Officer Ide answered. "They just want to talk to you for a moment." He paused for a moment. "Please," Officer Ide continued. "Follow us." 

I got up and followed them to the interrogation room. In the room, I saw Chief Matsuda and Commander Aizawa sitting down at the table. "Anna Marie Monroe," Chief Matsuda said. "Please have a seat. There are a few things we need to talk about." I sat down at the table and nervously looked around for a few seconds. "I didn't do anything illegal, did I?" I asked the two police officers. "No, no," Chief Matsuda answered. "Nothing like that, we just want to ask you some questions." I nodded nervously. "Okay," I muttered. "First question," Commander Aizawa said as he looked me straight in the eyes. "So, do you prefer being called Anna or Marie?" That's an easy question to answer! I thought to myself. "I've always preferred being called Marie," I answered. "I can't stand Anna. For as long as I can remember, I've never liked being called Anna and just wanted to be called Marie."
