Chapter Twenty-Nine: Calling Kyrie

JANUARY 27, 2006

AROUND 7:00 AM 

TOKYO, JAPAN 

                                                                              MARIE 

I walked up to Christy's room and made sure that she didn't have the door locked. I knew that if she had the door locked, she would probably be changing her clothes or probably getting ready to take a shower. "Hey," I greeted Christy as I opened the door without knocking. "Woof!" I heard Khloe bark before she came up to me. "Hello, Khloe," I greeted her as I petted her. "How are you doing, pretty girl?" I then heard footsteps and saw Christy coming up to me. I looked up at Christy as she walked up to me. "Oh, hey, Christy," I greeted. "Nice morning, isn't it?" Christy nodded. "Why yes, it is," she agreed. "Anyway, I guess I'll be heading to work tomorrow as usual since both...the Misa Misa Legacy Party and Commander Aizawa's wedding anniversary party have been postponed since Chief Matsuda, Commander Aizawa, and the rest of the Task Force members are going to be helping with the funerals from today til Tuesday. The Misa Misa Legacy Party has been delayed till February 9th and Commander Aizawa's anniversary party will be on February 10th. Anyway, you're birthday is on the 28th of February!" Christy giggled in excitement.

I nodded and smiled. "Oh," I let out. I completely forgot about my birthday. I also didn't really feel that excited about it since I shared the same birthday with Light Yagami, but I guess he wasn't that bad since I got to know him. However, I will never go the same path that he did when he was Kira. I am Kira now and I do things my way regardless if he was my Shinigami or not. "You'll be turning eighteen, Marie," Christy told me. " You'll finally be an adult. What do you wanna do? Go shopping? Go to an aquarium? Throw a big party? Go to a fancy restaurant? Go to an arcade? Go on a date with one of your guy friends?" I shrugged. "I don't know yet," I answered. "But I guess since both parties have been postponed, that'll mean I'll have more time to get to know Near." Christy slightly tilted her head. "Near?" she asked. "Is that the guy you were talking to at the vigil?" I nodded. "Yes," I answered. "But we've decided to be just friends because he didn't want anything to get in the way of him becoming the next L." Christy slowly nodded without saying anything. "Oh," she let out. "Well, that makes sense due to the fact that you don't wanna get into a relationship with John since you two broke up weeks ago." I shrugged my shoulders. "Still not over that," I told her. "Anyway, I hope that I'll be able to get over that soon." 

"I'm sure you will, Marie," she said. "You're a very strong girl who always puts others before yourself and I love you for that." I smiled once Christy said that. "I love you, too, Christy," I replied back to her. Khloe then made a noise that sounded like, "I love you both!" Christy and I laughed once we heard Khloe say that. "Anyway," Christy began. "Maybe I'll get to go on a date with Steve sometime." "Okay," I said to her. "You have fun at work today." Christy chuckled. "And I really hope that you have fun with your friends today if you ever decide to do something fun."  I nodded. "I will," I told her right before Christy gave me a big hug. I placed my arms around her and closed my eyes as I was doing so. After we let go of each other, Christy and I looked at each other for a little bit. "See you later, alligator," she told me. "After a while, crocodile," I said replied back to her. She then turned and looked at Khloe. "And I'll see you tonight, my precious pup-pup," she told her as she bent down and hugged her. 

Khloe wagged her tail and barked once she did that. "Yes, pup-pup," Christy sang. "You're the best, even when you're not the best. You're the GREATEST dog, even when you're not the greatest." Khloe lifted her head up and kissed Christy. She laughed as Khloe did that to her and sighed as she got up. "Anyway," Christy began as she waved at me. "Have fun. See you tonight." "See you tonight," I replied as I waved back at her. "Ruff-ruff-roo!" Khloe told her. Christy and I laughed after we heard that right before she walked down the stairs and walked out of the house since we heard the front door open, close, and lock. I sighed at look at Khloe. "Do you wanna talk to Kyrie?" I asked. Khloe barked excitedly. I laughed after I heard that. "Anyway," I began. "Let's call her."
