FEBRUARY 14, 2006 (VALENTINE'S DAY)

TOKYO, JAPAN

AT 6:30 PM

                                                                               MARIE

I felt better now that Mr. Mikami and Ms. Hirota were there. I sat there at the table with Mr. Mikami sitting across from me. "Can you tell me more about what happened?" Mr. Mikami asked. I softly exhaled and prepared to tell him about more than happened. "I don't know how to tell you this," I began. "But the man that attacked me was the masked man that almost everyone saw after the candlelight vigil." Mr. Mikami's eyes widened. "What?" he asked. "Is that true?" I nodded. "Yes," I answered. "He attacked me in the grocery store. A week later he chased me and Vincent down to the crypt. He must have been the same guy that drained the water and almost killed us." Mr. Mikami didn't know what to do. "Wow," he let out. "I am very sorry that he did all of that to you." "Thanks," I told Mr. Mikami. "To make things even worse, Sam told me that he had been receiving weird phone calls. He visited me tonight."

Mr. Mikami raised his eyebrow. "Does Ms. Seraphim or Sky know about the phone calls?" he asked. I shook my head. "No," I answered. "Ms. Seraphim doesn't, but Sam told me that he told Sky about it and that he's been acting very weird lately. When Sky called me, he told me that he had no idea. I don't want to believe that Sam was lying to me or playing dumb." "Maybe he just didn't expect Sam to tell you that," Mr. Mikami commented. "Just in case you don't know, Sky is popular with the ladies and can even make any guy jealous. Meanwhile, Sky is very reserved and shy. He has a hard time talking to people other than Sky and Ms. Seraphim. She says that she's blessed to have two boys and even goes as far as to treat Sky like she's her second son. Even though some foster parents are cruel, I must say as a child who went through foster care, I have a lot of fond memories with my foster family. Without them, I would more than likely be in the orphanage. It was hard for me when my parents got arrested for skinny dipping in a hot tub, but I was so happy when they were finally released. When that time came, I was already a teenager. My parents had gotten into constant fights with some of the other inmates so that's why it took so long for them to get out of jail."

"Wow," I let out. "That is something." "Yes, but it doesn't compare to what Sam had to go through," Mr. Mikami told me. "His parents went through a rough time when his mother's business was shut down. They didn't want Sky to suffer, so they placed him in foster care. He went through about six families before Jenny and Sam invited them into their family. Each and every family that he had before them was verbally abusive towards him. It wasn't just the parents, but his foster siblings were awful to him. Every Christmas, they would give him presents only to have them broken and burned. His birthdays were basically the same, only except, they would always end up burning the cake or slamming the cake on the ground. At school, his siblings would have many friends, but Sky on the other hand would be mocked and called the lovechild between Cloud Strife and Eric Draven from The Crow. There would be many days and nights that Sky thought about ending his life. One day, he was about to kill himself and even went as far as throwing himself off a building. That's when a miracle happened. Sam was practicing with a large katana about the same size as Sephrioth's Masamune and it caught onto Sky's cape."

I softly gasped once I heard that. "When Sky was brought inside, Sam asked him why he was planning to throw himself off a building. After hearing Sky's story, Sam felt so bad for him that he wanted to make Sky his brother. When Ms. Seraphim came home, she was curious why there was another kid in the house. Sam told her everything and she felt so bad for Sky. That's when she decided to contact the foster care center that had Sky and they agreed to have her take care of him. Unlike the past six times, Sky had never been more loved, never been more accepted, and had never been so happy to call Sam his brother. Though Ms. Seraphim says that they can both be very uncontrollable around Halloween. They always do a lot of stuff that goes against Sephiroth's relationship with Cloud in the game. Sometimes, it gets a little out of hand and some Cloud cosplayers had become a little on edge with them too."
