GETTING CLOSER TO JAPAN

                                                                   MARIE

I woke up right next to Christy who was still asleep. She must have been so tired. I thought. I got out of my seat and made my way to the bathroom. I was in the bathroom for five minutes since I had to do Number #1, wash my hands after using and flushing the toilet, wash my hands, and lastly, brush my teeth. I came out of the bathroom when I was done only to find most of the crew and Christy still asleep. I sat down right beside Christy, she began to move a little bit and wake up. She sat up stretching her arms out and yawned. Christy looked at me and saw that I was already away. "Oh," she said in a surprised tone. "Good morning, Marie. I hope you slept better for the rest of the night." "I did, of course," I assured her. "It was just a bad dream." "It's okay," Christy comforted me. "Everyone has them. Now if you'll excuse me."  She placed her bag on her back. "I gotta go to the bathroom." Christy got out of her seat and went to go to the bathroom.

After she got up from her seat, almost the whole aircraft woke up. The old lady from the front row woke up and looked at us. "Oh, good morning." she greeted me. "Good morning," I greeted back. "I hope you're doing better than you were yesterday," she added. My eyes scanned the aircraft as I tried to think of a response. "Uh...yeah...no more talk about Kira...I guess," I told her. "No more talk about Kira." She pointed her finger up like she was about to lecture me. "It'd be better if you didn't talk about Kira for the rest of the flight." the old lady told us right as her husband awoke. She turned and faced her husband. "Sweetheart," he yawned. "Are the two girls that were talking about Kira yesterday still sitting in the row behind us?" She nodded. "It's still going to be a long flight to Japan, honey." the old lady told her husband. "You may as well sit down and get used to it."

After she said that, I sat there and waited for Christy to get out of the bathroom. It was strange sitting there for a while and waiting for her to come out for that long. The women's bathroom only had five stalls on this plane (very uncommon for bathrooms on airplanes.) Was Christy doing a Number 2? Did she have an accident or was probably sick? I didn't know what to do as I sat there and waited. I wanted to watch another movie, but I decided I should wait for Christy to come out. And besides, there would be no point in watching the first Final Destination film because we were on an airplane, and if I watched that on an airplane, people would panic, the flight attendant would probably come back and I'd probably get kicked off of this plane and land in the middle of the ocean. I'm not a mermaid! I can't breathe underwater! If I got thrown off in the middle of the ocean, I'd more than likely drown or get eaten by a shark. Deciding that I didn't want any trouble, I decided to get out my Bram Stoker's Dracula book that I had in my bag and read it as I continued to wait for Christy to get out of the bathroom.

"Alright, everyone!" I heard a female voice all out. "We're almost halfway to Japan! So don't forget to order something for breakfast and lunch while you're still on the flight!" I looked up and saw the flight attendant come over to my seat. "Sweetie, where's Christy?" she asked. "In the bathroom," I answered. Why is she taking so long? Surely she can't be that busy. Maybe she's taking a shower or possibly still on the toilet. I thought. "Huh, I see," she said as she picked up her notepad. "Now, what can I get you for breakfast?" She handed me the breakfast menu and I looked at it for a moment. "I'll have a breakfast burrito with sausage, egg, potato, and cheese with an apple and a drink of orange juice," I told her. "Alright," she said as she wrote it down on her note. "Your order will come as soon as possible." She took the menu from my hand and looked around at everyone. Almost everybody went back to sleep...again. "Huh," she let out. "Almost the whole aircraft is out." The flight attendant looked at me. "Also, don't forget to alert me when Christy is out of the bathroom." I nodded. "I will." "Thank you," she told me right before she walked back to the kitchen.
