MARIE
I couldn't believe that I was riding in a limo for the first time in my life. I was sure that Mr. Mikami was rich, but I didn't know he'd be this rich. I looked outside the window and watched as we drove past a lot of places like the Yotsuba building and a random Starbucks. I also didn't acknowledge the fact that Khloe and I weren't the only ones in the limo when I felt someone's foot softly nudging mine.
I looked away and saw Sky sitting right across from me. I didn't know if he meant to nudge his foot at me or if he really did. However, there was only one way to make sure. And that was striking up a conversation with the Cloud Strife fanboy.
"Are you going to Hot Topic, too?" I asked.
Sky lowered his manga to look at me. There, I saw his pale blue eyes looking into my chocolate brown eyes.
"Yes," Sky answered.
"What kind of job do you think we'll get?" I asked, trying to contain my excitement.
Sky answered my question with a shrug. He didn't bother using words. I figured he wasn't in the mood for a conversation. Respectfully, I looked out through the window and saw a building I never thought would still be standing.
Yotsuba? I thought. I then got the limousine phone and called the driver. I watched as the tinted window separating Sky and me from the driver came down like in Home Alone 2.
"Hello," the limousine driver greeted me after picking up the phone.
"Yes, hello, this is Marie," I greeted him back. "What can you tell me about the new Yotsuba building?"
"What?" I heard Sky ask in a low voice.
The limousine driver softly laughed. "It's not new, Miss Monroe," he informed me. "It's the same building where Higuchi used to do his dirty work. However, the company is now run by someone else. This lady and her daughter brought it back after all of these years."
I was surprised to hear this. I thought someone would have bought the company since the original Yotsuba group was severely lacking in female employees. Other than Misa, who used to be their spokesperson until Higuchi's death. Then again, that was it. At least, Misa was the only one we knew about.
"There were other girls in the agency who worked with Misa, but none of them stuck around for Yotsuba," I heard Sky mutter.
Upon hearing that, I felt stupid asking the limousine driver any more questions about Yotsuba. Sky knew quite a bit about the company. He even knew there were other girls in the agency besides Misa. However, she was the most famous. Everyone was either vaguely familiar or knew very much about who Misa Amane was. I was still a huge fan, even though she didn't wanna see me.
There was no way to contact her or ask how she was doing without heading back to the asylum. Unfortunately, due to how Light treated me, I knew there was no way I was going back there. I also knew I had to fend for myself. And even though I wasn't sure what all went through Light's mind, I knew Light would more than likely trust me more if I did as he commanded. However, if he told me to kill Near, that would be one command I wouldn't carry out.
