TOKYO, JAPAN

AT 5:30 PM

                                                                                  MINAKO (MS. HIROTA)

I waited patiently for my protector to bring me to the place where he said that I'd be safe. My relief wore off when drove into the back of a truck. I started to have millions of thoughts race through my head. What the hell? Why is this guy driving me in the back of his truck? Am I going to end up like Kiyomi Takada? I thought to myself. I got off the motorcycle once it stopped and so did my protector. I stood my ground and started breathing heavily. Fear and anxiety plagued my thoughts as I thought that I was going to end up like Light Yagami's second girlfriend. "Don't be afraid," my protector told me. "I'm not gonna hurt you or strip you naked. I promise." "T-then...how do I know I can trust you?" I asked terrified about what was going to happen next. I watched as my protector took off his helmet and revealed his face to me. I gasped since I recognized him immediately. "Lucas?" I asked. "Y-you were trying to protect me." Lucas didn't say anything. Just stood there and looked at me with the same serious look on his face.

"So what you said is true," I said out loud. "Marie did send you, right?" Lucas nodded. "Yes," he answered. "I.." All of a sudden, Lucas winced in pain and placed his hand below his chest. "Lucas?" I asked. "What's wrong?" Lucas crumpled to the floor and I rushed to his side. "Lucas, what happened to you when we were...?" I asked. I didn't finish my sentence because once I gently lifted Lucas' left hand from his chest, I saw blood on it and noticed a wound that looked like a slash wound. I gasped once I saw the wound. "Oh, Lucas," I said out loud. "You poor thing." I quickly pulled my phone out and flipped it open. "Don't worry," I assured him. "I'll call an ambulance." "Are you sure you have enough minutes?" Lucas asked looking into my eyes. "I have over three hundred minutes per month," I answered. "I'm sure that I have enough." Lucas softly nudged his hand at me. "Use mine," he offered his phone to me. "Save the minutes. I insist that you use my phone." I slowly took Lucas' flip phone which was a Motorola i530. I was surprised that he had something like this, but in the end, I know that I shouldn't have been and it wasn't because he was playing Mello in the school play.

I dialed 199 with his phone and placed it up to my ear. "199, what's your emergency?" the dispatcher asked. "Yes, my student has been slashed in a motorcycle shooting," I answered. "I need medical assistance immediately." "Hold on," the dispatcher said to me. "Your student was slashed in a motorcycle shooting?" "Yes," I answered. "He was trying to protect me from these people that were going to kidnap and rape me." "Miss, we have word that there was a shooting earlier with a biker gang on the road," the dispatcher informed me. "Is there a different shooting or.." "No!" I interrupted. "It's the same one! Now, please! Send an ambulance over or else he's gonna bleed to death!" "Calm down, miss," the 199 dispatcher told me. "So, is the wound deep?" I shook my head. "No," I answered. "But he will die if he doesn't get help." The sound of Lucas' heavy breathing made me want to cry. I had no idea how long it would take medical assistance to save him. I examined the wound and saw blood continue to leak from the wound. I got out my pink scarf and wrapped it around Lucas' wound hoping that it would stop him from bleeding out.

"Okay, miss," the dispatcher told me. "Where are you?" "We're in the back of a warehouse in a truck," I answered. "I'm not sure where it is. I could step outside and look, but I'm not gonna leave my student like this. Please you have to send someone over! Please, listen to me! He'll die if he doesn't receive any help!" "Alright," the dispatcher said. "Help is on the way. If you're lucky someone might get to us before we do." The sound of emergency vehicle sirens filled my ears as I held Lucas close hoping that this wouldn't be the end for him. "They'll be here soon, Lucas" I informed him. "You're gonna be okay."
